postage again and being 'overcharged'?

I bought some things from a lovely seller. no one else bid so i got them at asking price. She gave me some postage discount but the postage was still alot but I thought I would wait and see how things were sent etc. maybe in a large parcel

In the end they arrived crammed in one small package and it meant I had paid an additional £5 in postage charges.

I have contacted her and asked her nicely if she will refund some back but now I feel bad and perhaps I shouldn't have.

any thoughts?

£5 over charge sounds a lot. How much do you want back?

P and P covers postage and packaging charges. Plus the seller now has to pay eBay fees on any postage charges as well as the actual item price. So say she charged you £10, and the actual cost was £5. The seller only gets £9. She has to package the parcel, so might have to buy brown paper or thick bin liners or bubble wrap. Then get the parcel to the post office. Not all villages have post offices these days, so it might be a bus journey away or they might have to pay to park.

It's unlikely that she will be keeping all of the £5 overpayment.

If you felt it was far too much you could have enquired why prior to it being sent. I don't mind paying for packaging, I do however mind when I do and it arrives in several Tesco carrier bags and a roll od sellotape Hmm.

it was packed in a plastic envelope. I asked for half back.

I felt for about £10 the seller may have sent it in a larger parcel.

Did it arrive securely, safely and in good condition? If so, I wouldn't complain, the seller's P&P costs are clear up front.

Why would it have made you happier if it was in a large parcel???
You would still have paid the same amount.
You must have been happy to pay that amount before you bid....

because the stuff was crammed in and because the postage was quite expensive I thought that was why. anyway it got sorted?
