My cat and next door neighbours dog

I was just wondering what others peoples views are about this situation.

I have an elderly cat, most days she totters out of my back door and finds a comfy spot to sleep in a few feet away from the house in my back garden.

NDN has a dog. It's a lovely dog with which I have no problems with however because of how our houses are set out out it is constantly coming into our back garden to chase our cat. The problem being that our shared driveway crosses the back of their house and their garden is beyond this so if they let the dog out of their back door it can either cross the driveway to go into their garden or continue down the driveway into ours. Now that the dog has figured out that there is usually a cat to chase if it goes into ours guess which way it goes?

NDN is aware that this happens and avoids us for days until they think it has blown over. Am IBU about this or should I just accept that dogs will chase cats?

The dog isn't neglected but I do think its a case of the wrong dog for them, I would guess by it's colouring and rangy ness it's a Border Collie/Greyhound cross. As you can imagine it's quite lively!
I do feel sorry for them though as the dog was rescued by their grown up daughter who then decided that she couldn't look after it so they have acquired it that way rather than by choice.

Still it's no excuse to not keep a proper watch over it.

If all they let it do is go in the garden, and throw the occasional ball for it, it must be going up the wall. I think it IS neglected, from what you've said. Sad

according to the law the dog must not be allowed to run loose like that they can be prosecuted for it if it bites someone/animal on your property you could try gently suggesting they deal because no one wants that sort of trouble (although how you go about that nicely i will never know!) i had a slight issue with my neighbours and there dd bf as you know there is no automatic right to park outside your own home but both my neighbours have driveways and the dd left us enough room to fit our car in as we have a small nuclear device child her bf did not he parked slap bang in the middle my dp moaned about it it was a real pita and our ds nearly got run over because he bolted towards the car (across the road) so i asked her how much her driveway cost as we wanted on due to our son nearly having an accident and he has maybe done it once in the two years since we still have not put a driveway in (we might but we haven't yet)
