...to wonder why people on here can't just accept when an OP accepts they've BU?!

I've been on MN for a couple of years now, but go through only a few days (prob a year) where I'll post/comment etc, however no, I'm not a troll Wink

Anyway, I read a post on here few days back, where people werw discussing AIBU and how it seems to bringbout the vile creatures on here! So, why is it when an OP holds up their (virtual) hands and says you know what, fair enough, I still have my opinion but I accept that I was obviously being unreasonable etc, that other posters cannot say great, and leave it at that - why is there this culture on here where people feel the need to 'have the last word' so to speak?

The question is 'am I being unreasonable?' therefore, if the majority of replies are geared towards yes, and the OP accepts this, then why not just leave it there?

There are some people on here who clearly love the sound of their own voices (or in this case, love the look of their own posts!) Angry

And it's not about admitting you're wrong. it's an opinion, thetefore, you can't be wrong, unless it's scientifically factually,it's about accepting you may be being unreasonable, which, getting back to my initial post on this thread, if an OP does accept this, why the need for (pathetic) people to carry on berating the OP?!

Because posts are missed.
I tend to read the OP then maybe pages 1 and 2 and then my response. In the middle somewhere the OP may have come back with more info or whatever but frankly, I'm not reading 56 pages worth of stuff.

In agree with usual, fed up of these threads citing 'bullying' and just having a general whinge. Woman up and say it on the actual thread.

I always read the thread. I'm a goody two shoes.

farewellfigure · 10/07/2014 16:32

How do you highlight the OP? That sounds fun and would make life so much easier! I always RTFT thread though, obviously Grin

Pagwatch · 10/07/2014 16:35

Just click on 'customise' .
It's very straightforward. You can highlight ops posts and your own posts .

Joysmum · 10/07/2014 16:35

I didn't realise until fairly recently that you could set your preferences to highlight posts by the OP and your own in different colours.

It's made my life so much easier as if I'm not going to read all the replies I can easily skim through to read the ones by the OP which is the bare minimum I'll do.

silveroldie2 · 10/07/2014 17:08

I think quite often it's apparent that a poster hasn't RTFT (which I always thought meant Read The Fucking Thread!). Some just want to cause aggro and the rest say well done OP for seeing that YWBU.

ScouseBird8364 · 10/07/2014 17:27

Because some people just come on AIBU to be self righteous, argumentative and generally unpleasant. They will twist the OP's words, come at the argument from ridiculous angles, bring in all kinds of unlikely scenarios and reasons to prove the OP is being BU and generally do what it takes to work themselves up into a state of indignation.

I particularly hate the "they might have mental health problems" spiel. So what if they do? Their behavior isn't any less acceptable. Not to mention it's a bit insulting to imply that people with MH problems lack self control (unless it's a severe LD). If they do it's 100% on them to get help for it, not on us to cut them slack and enable bad behavior.

No one lashes out when they're having a good day on top of a good life. People don't exist in vacuums. Even if they have a persecution complex, they're not jerks just for the sake of it. So I'm not sure why them having a bad day/life should factor into it to be honest. It just isn't acceptable for everyone to go around lashing out when they've had a rough time.
