To feel guilty!

I've got an online shopping delivery slot booked between 10 and 11, got a call 20 min ago to say he's in the area could he come earlier. I said not really as dd is still in bed and I'm feeding ds. I was very apologetic but now I feel really bad about it, will he just have to sit in his van and wait?

You sound a bit unreasonable to be honest. It is 9am and surely a delivery would not wake DD?

Now you have to sit around until 11 am potentially.

whitepuddingsupper · 10/07/2014 09:15

Why feel guilty, you want the slot you booked.

Missunreasonable · 10/07/2014 09:15

He will probably drive somewhere else and then come back over to your area at the correct time. It will waste fuel and be un-environmentally friendly but the store should arrange the routes better to avoid this.
I would have welcomed the earlier delivery if I was in as it frees up the rest of my day, but that is just me. He wasn't wrong to ask, but you are within your rights to refuse.

Sounds a bit unreasonable. He will probably go somewhere else and come back but you probably added an hour of to his finish time and when he gets home.

Rigbyroo · 10/07/2014 09:18

I thought I was being a bit unreasonable. I booked 10-11 for the convenience though, not dressed, milky boobs out and just generally a mess! Would have been more sorted by 10.

I wouldn't feel guilty, he probably thought he was doing you a favour to get it to you early if he was passing.
Mine do this quite often and i appreciate it but if I'm not back from work yet when they call, they're totally fine too - think they just get given really illogical routes sometimes.

ICanSeeTheSun · 10/07/2014 09:21

Why feel guilty, you book a time slot and it wasn't convenient before then.

Geordiegirl79 · 10/07/2014 09:24

Don't feel guilty, you are busy feeding! It's really not a big deal and I am sure the driver won't lose much sleep over it!

Idontseeanyicegiants · 10/07/2014 09:47

They'll go somewhere else first and come back to you. The last time mine turned up a little early I was still on the way back from school and he was just about to set off to his next drop then come back to me.

ikeaismylocal · 10/07/2014 09:54

Either he'll go somewhere else first or he'll just sit and wait but I'm sure he won't mind sitting having an unofficial break. My dp drives a truck and there is one place that is consistently late with the things he needs to load up, I think he secretly loves that time when he can't do anything ( home life is hectic as we have a toddler) dp just listens to music or catches up with facebook when his loading/unloading schedule has gaps.
