I'm 26 weeks and having a planned section in October. My DH wants to buy me a device to put on my socks and pants and thinks its hilarious. I do not find it funny. AIBU?

Yanbu.

I am currently not mobile due to knee surgery, had to use a wheelchair today just to get out of the house, went to tesco.

Having a disability regardless if it's short term or long term is not funny.

What type of device?

SquigglySquid · 09/07/2014 21:13

You might be a bit sensitive and hormonal. It really depends on how he said it. Is he normally a goofy type that teases you? Or is this behavior new?

If you're just finding his normal obnoxious behavior more irritating than usual, you're being ever so slightly unreasonable. Just tell him it's not funny. Limited mobility is frustrating enough without the hormones and being laughed at.

For what it's worth, I sat indian style and put my socks on that way so my knees came up and out at the sides instead of on my stomach. :)

Something an elderly or disabled person would use.

I don't actually need it - I just mentioned I might need help for a day or two after surgery

What a horrible attitude to display, does he also think that an elderly or disabled person needing this kind of assistance is 'hilarious'? He sounds like an arse.

When pregnant with both my DC I was in so much pain with SPD that I needed quite a few aids just to get around (support belt, stick, swivel cushion for the car etc) and help with dressing, turning over in the night etc. Other people I know with the same condition were on crutches and using a wheelchair.

I struggled after the births - EMCS was far worse than VBAC - and also needed some assistance with personal care.

My DH didn't find it funny. He was helpful and considerate. YANBU.

Oh my ex used to wait until I was trying to put one leg in my knickers whilst balancing on the other (and carrying a huge huge bump and baby) and push me over Grin it was quiet funny to be honest

I'd have loved a gadget to help me ...
