This has happened a few times now. Today the kid in question brought it to school in his book bag!

YANBU. If I hosted a playdate with a child who brought an ipad I'd say "Let's put that away now because it might not be safe." and that would be that.

MrsWinnibago · 09/07/2014 16:00

Should add....wouldn't do that with an older child...but I do tell my 9 year old and her friends to get off the screens and go and PLAY PROPERLY. They usually do too!

My 5yo likes his cousins tablet and asked for an ipad at xmas, we got him a bike. Im happy to let my ds play on others but I would not waste my money on one!

YANBU.

A friend of DDs brought her mobile phone to DDs birthday 'party' last year and was playing games in it in the cinema (we were in a box so only potential to disturb our group).

After asking her once to give it a rest I was getting irritated but a bit unsure of how to take it more forcefully. Fortunately 9yo DD had no such inhibitions and beat me to it! Grin

tackle it

happygirly · 09/07/2014 18:51

Turns out he sneaked it in his book bag and his parents didn't know he had it , ha!

Yanbu - a friend of mine had to pay to replace a tablet belonging to one of her DCs friends. The friend had brought it with them on a playdate and her own DC had accidentally dropped it on the patio and it was broken beyond repair.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 09/07/2014 20:55

Ohana why the jeff did your friend pay for it?

I went out to celebrate a friend's new job recently. Her brother's eight year old played on an iPad throughout the dinner and didn't speak to anyone, not even to thank the waiter who brought his food.

There were four other children there (that he knows well) who were chatting to each other.

strange thing to bring on a play-date

my kids do the "normal" footy, make dens, play lego

i would be annoyed if a child bought along one to a play-date
