Why not? Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. I have no idea why people get so precious about hair, it grows back Confused

I would love to let DS have crazy hair but DH says no :( Stupid because I now feel too old to dye my hair crazy colours! You can't win!

5madthings · 08/07/2014 13:46

I don't swe why not, my boys have had Mohawks and coloured their hair over the summer1, normally just with hair chalk or a wash in wash out dye.

Thenapoleonofcrime · 08/07/2014 13:46

Surely the point of home-schooling (or perhaps you have finished early/private) is to be able to do what you would like.

If it is really driven by the children, I wouldn't care although I wouldn't be trying to get them to do it.

If they are at festivals, there will be children similar, plus covered in face paint/fake tattoos (which I hate but my girls love).

Do it! It can be cut out!

Topaz25 · 08/07/2014 13:48

Why not? It's fun and hair grows back. Let them express themselves.

Ilovexmastime · 08/07/2014 13:58

YANBU, it's only hair, let them experiment!

ElizabethLemon · 08/07/2014 14:05

Yanbu

Discobugsacha · 08/07/2014 14:10

I would let them, I think they'll look cool! (I would never allow tram tracks though, I think they really do look awful!)

Randomnames · 08/07/2014 14:24

Go for it! - If its what they want. If they don't like it it will grow/ wash out and they won't ask again. If they do you can keep it as a treat for holidays. If they are ASB registered boys who terrorise the neighbourhood then I'd say think twice. If they are like the majority of 5-6 year old boys who just love having fun then why not..... My 6yr old daughter has asked to dye her hair as her big sister is going to a festival with blue and pink hair. Initially I said no ... because obviously people would think I am an irresponsible parent Shock, but taking on board the responses above I will let her do it temp. for the summer if she still wants. Basically whatever the responses ar, positive or negative you can use the experience to teach them about judgement, values, confidence, individuality in ourselves and others.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII · 08/07/2014 14:33

Yeah! Go for it. I'd 'dip dye it too. As soon as it looks awful just cut it off. We used to dip dye the bottom couple of inches of my DDs hair most summers and cut it off in time for the new school term.

It looks a bit daft but who cares.

Nanny0gg · 08/07/2014 16:37

Does their mother not get a say then?

CinnabarRed · 08/07/2014 16:44

Isn't in granny saying no, rather than mum?

ravenAK · 08/07/2014 16:47

Can't see why not! Sounds like fun.

r2d2ismyidealman · 08/07/2014 16:50

Why not? It's summer.

BookieTubules · 08/07/2014 17:02

I took "mum" to be the DCs mum. That being the case, not sure everyone replying above has read the full OP. I'd personally go ballistic if I'd said no and without further discussion "D"H went ahead with something like that anyway.
