To think that people should think before posting photos on FB...

I have a toddler and young baby. I'm sleep deprived and carrying around baby weight. I went to a friends party at the weekend, and unbeknown to me, one of her friends took some photos with me in them and posted them on FB. I just saw them. I wouldn't call myself vain, and don't mind a funny pic of myself, but I look overweight, have multiple chins, am scowling and looking really miserable in the pics. Why oh why would you post such unflattering photos? ESPECIALLY post baby. Totally down on my figure as it is at the moment, but these make me want to cry.

As PP have said, untag and message her. She probably hasn't done this maliciously- either she thought you looked fine or just bunged a load of photos up without quality checking.

I hate people that do this.

A friend of a friend unearthed old photos from our student days of us completely drunk, me holding my friend's rolly for her (looked like we were passing a joint- we weren't) and included several pics of me with a particularly vile ex-bf.

Some people just really don't think- the poster has a professional job where this sort of thing could really compromise his integrity, no security settings on his FB etc.

It may be that you don't look as bad as you think. I was looking at a picture of my kids the other day with me in the background. God, I thought, I am so fat. Then I realised it wasn't me at all and instantly the person didn't look fat any more (she isn't.) Weird.

A bit sad that some of you think I'm a big vain, but on a positive note, the super dodgy pic was removed after I messaged her. Glad not everyone thinks I'm being completely unreasonable though!

It would be nice if Facebook could autodetect shit photos. With digital photography and the choice to upload, there's really no excuse for blurry bad photos.

ViviPru · 10/07/2014 13:03

It would be nice if Facebook could autodetect shit photos hahah there'd be barely any photos on there!

It would be nice if it could auto detect for multiple uploads of practically identical photos. Why can't people just pick the best of the batch rather than adding shitloads that are virtually indistinguishable?

YANBU

I do not like facebook, I do not post on facebook. Any sites I am on, there is no photograph associated with me, so I am seriously pissed off if any photographs of me appear on any site. My DS's both did this to me, following a family holiday and I just do not like it. They got taken down fairly swiftly Wink. Unless you know they are going to be uploaded, I think it is very, very rude to do so, so there!

Chislemum · 10/07/2014 13:40

YANBU no photo of you or your should children should be posted on the internet (for the world to see) without your express consent.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 11/07/2014 16:37

ViviPru maybe fb could come up with warnings like you used to get stuck on photos when they came back from the developers telling you they were too dark or over exposed or whatever? And "this is your 17th selfie this week, don't you think you've had enough?".

ViviPru · 11/07/2014 16:39

Haha yes they sounds like excellent proposals, Testing!

RedToothBrush · 11/07/2014 16:48

They should just ban photos on FB.

Less stress for the entire world.

I honestly think that it's because we are way more critical of the way we think we look than how other perceive us. I might think a picture of me is appalling and really unflattering, but other people just think it's normal/nice etc. people don't see in the same way.
