to think DD can just put up with paint stained school dresses?

I put her dress on her this morning to discover there's a paint stain on it, her other dress has been stained for weeks and no amount of stain remover is working, she has a painting apron at school but no one ever checks she's put it on.

The second hand shop hasn't got anything that will fit DD and a new dress is £40 (not an easy to get style) she breaks up the beginning of next week and has to go back in winter uniform anyway, so she will probably grow out of it after only wearing it a week. Money is tight but as usual Grandma's got my birthday wrong and sent me a card with money in (mines the end of July, my brothers was last week, she always gets us the wrong way round) So I could buy a new dress but I was saving it to take DD and DS out.

So AIBU to think that she can just wear the stained dresses til the end of term? or are people going to judge?

I have certainly noticed that children in my class are wearing clothes that you can tell parents are stretching out for another couple of weeks. In fact we have all taken to taking our shoes off in the afternoon as so many children have feet that hurt due to small shoes. I wouldn't be bothered if they were sent in in trainers for the sake of two weeks.
(that said this is a school in an area of deprivation)

I think I'd be more inclined to judge you as being crazy if you shelled out £40 for a dress that would be worn for a week.

I'm amazed that much uniform ends up being sold on. There must be some incredibly tidy, careful children out there.

pipbin it's that's sad, it's why I hate inflexible uniform.

I much preferred the days before HS went mad and DD1 could wear proper sandals that then became her smart 'shoes' for the summer.

DD2 eeked out some pretty dreadful shoes (her feet don't grew quickly and after a whole year they really were dead).

Poor DS has one pair of school trousers with a huge hole in the knee and the other with the zip coming away. I have to check he is wearing black boxers on the broken zip days :o

Pico2, in sharp contrast to ds, my dd looks just as immaculate as she did in September.
It's creepy Grin

Put the first of the 'white' shirts in the bin last night Smile

My DD had green paint on one of her school shirts and she wore it for years afterwards as she didn't grow much for a while.
