Ageing

Does it massively accelerate after children? In 5 years I reckon I've clocked up about 12 on my face.

Also, having a fever seems to accelerate it also - recently had tonsilitis and I'm sure I'm looking greyer and more lined since recovering.

don't knock ageing, its better than the alternative.

I used to get told all the time I didn't look my age. People would be amazed... Then I had DD. Now I look my age.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 06/07/2014 20:54

I think it's the lack of sleep rather than the actual children

I don't know.
I'm 49 and I am very happy with the way I look and I have two kids.
I remember being pregnant and looking at someone who had a baby and she had lost all interest in her appearance.( was happy with everything to do with the baby) she proclaimed she didn't have time to bother with make up and it didn't matter anyway.
I remember thinking 'bollocks to that!!'

I made an effort with my hair, make up, clothes and kept all the things I was interested in after having babies and that has kept me looking ok 18 years later!!
I also don't smoke, don't sunbathe, regular dental appointments, hair appointments and exercise well.

Try drinking more water, hydration works wonders for tired skin, hair and nails as does coconut oil, either taken as a supplement, rubbed into skin and nails as a moisturiser or both.

LemonBreeland · 06/07/2014 21:17

It didn't happen to me until DC3. I have always looked really young, but once I had DD I feel I have aged 10 years in 2 years.

Itsjustmeagain · 06/07/2014 21:19

I feel like I have aged loads since having children but people still tell me I look younger than my age (I am 30 btw). I have had 5 children in 8 years and I feel about 90!

tilliebob · 06/07/2014 21:19

I seem to have aged 5 years since my last birthday. Who cares - the alternative is worse, and my DH and kids think I'm gorgeous.

tilliebob · 06/07/2014 21:23

Ach bloody phone..3 dcs, youngest was 5 at my last birthday. Maybe it's the cumulative effect of all those years of no sleep catching up at once?! Wink

JumpRope · 06/07/2014 21:57

I certainly still care about my appearance - I don't skimp on beauty, health, exercise or nice clothes. If I drink loads of water I have to pee a lot (always been like this since I was a child) and ridiculously, I avoid drinking water when I have the kids all day.

I am 55 look 45 drink a minimum of 2l water per day. The initial weeing stops after a few days & you have much more energy.

Have you kept up with trends. I get my make up done twice a year at Bobby Brown, I make sure my hair is cut and styled and get my eyebrows shaped and tinted.

The worst thing about ageing for me is the bloody hairs on my chin and upper lip.
