melodycool · 06/07/2014 20:19

Purple Rain is 30yrs old

wheresthelight · 06/07/2014 21:17

I realised I was old when Oasis was on golden oldies when listening to radio 2

MinesAPintOfTea · 06/07/2014 21:21

Beethoven has always been an on-TV film and back to the future was set in prehistory (although we did have a marathon session of watching all of them when I was at uni).

Is the matrix old yet?

ThrowAChickenInTheAir · 06/07/2014 21:27

Argh stop stop! It's still 1986 and I'm 21. I can remember when my parents were younger than I am now. It's all going wrongConfused

gobbynorthernbird · 06/07/2014 21:36

All this has done is piss me off about still not having a hoverboard.

VenusStarr · 06/07/2014 21:38

Ah I went to see this for my 9th birthday. I also got a stuffed Beethoven which I still have :)

ThrowAChickenInTheAir · 06/07/2014 21:41

Can you imagine how brilliant a hoverboard would be?? Envy
That's the annoying thing about 'the future'. We're led to expect things like hover boards and Star Trek transporter travel and we actually get Facebook and loom bands and the XFactor. Hmm. What a let down.

maddening · 06/07/2014 21:44

So this is what growing old feels like Shock

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 06/07/2014 21:44

Ah but the iPad and iPhone are better than the Star Trek equivalents. I'd quite like a replicator though.

ghostisonthecanvas · 06/07/2014 21:48

Grin gobby

I misplaced a decade somewhere.

TOADfan · 06/07/2014 21:48

I can make you feel old. I was born in the 90s. All my friends are married or have children. I have been ttc for 4 years with my fiance Grin

ghostisonthecanvas · 06/07/2014 21:51

I was beamed up from a shuttle to the enterprise. Twas awesomely futuristic.

ghostisonthecanvas · 06/07/2014 21:52

Thats possibly where my missing decade went.

ThrowAChickenInTheAir · 06/07/2014 21:52

Ah yes my iPad still blows my mind. I couldn't have imagined such a thing back in ye olden days. A Replicator would be handy too though Smile

ghostisonthecanvas · 06/07/2014 22:01

I remember a close friend travelling to Australia. We were talking about how great it would be if you could see each other when we phoned. That was 30 years ago.

now she is on fb daily taunting us all with tropical sunshine and we all whatsapp, message, face time etc. Tis marvellous.

Staywithme · 06/07/2014 22:12

My DH was wondering if anyone remembers 'space 1999'? Came out 39 yrs ago! That can't be right I remember watching it and I'm still young, aren't I? Sad

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 06/07/2014 22:58

I loved Space 1999. I shared it with my DS when he was small and we watched it together around 2005 when he was 9 or so. Moonbase Alpha.

Vintagejazz · 06/07/2014 23:10

You do all realise it is 14 years since we were all in awe at the arrival of a new decade and worrying our computers would all crash, ATMs would implode etc?

And it is about 35 years since JR Ewing was shot?

MrsMikeDelfino · 06/07/2014 23:16

I think I'm going to hide this thread now.

There's an idea. Wonder if I can get it online? I can just imagine the hysterical laughter of my boys, at the special effects. Grin
