To wait till DH wakes up to sort out the dead rat in the garden?

Woke up at 5am to find that a crow had dropped a dead rat in the garden. Fast forward to now and the dead rat has now been half eaten by the crow and it's started to rain.

Told DH who told me to 'pick it up because I saw it first' and then went back to sleep.

Am I being wimpy or should I persuade DH to sort it out when he wakes up (and it stops raining)? Dead rat really doesn't appeal to my Sunday morning hangover.

Urgh

I would leave it

Hakluyt · 06/07/2014 08:31

Why not just let the crow finish it off?

EatDessertFirst · 06/07/2014 08:31

Wimp! Wink

Pick it up using an inside out carrier bag over you hand. Dispose of and wash hands. It'll take your mind off the hangover for a split second.

I have two cats who like to bring 'presents' so I'm pretty used to it.

Andrewofgg · 06/07/2014 08:32

Why is it his job more than yours?

Dig a shallow hole, pick it up on your spade, drop it in and spread the dirt. You don't have to touch it.

Anniegetyourgun · 06/07/2014 08:32

YANBU. What's the rush? It's not going anywhere while you wait.

Now if you said "AIBU to wait until DH gets back from his three week trip abroad"...

blueshoesy · 06/07/2014 08:41

Good idea, hopefully the crow will finish it off. If not, the spade or carrier bag sounds like a good alternative I'll suggest it to DH

Maybe I am a bit wimpy actually, I could always do the next one that I find instead puts on sleep mask. In my defence though I do deal with nappy explosions a lot more than DH

Just leave it another creature will take care of it

TheBloodManCometh · 06/07/2014 08:55

Meh. My OH is officially "dead thing sorter" despite it being "my" cat leaving the dead things.

CoffeeTea103 · 06/07/2014 08:58

Lovely DH you have there

mrsminiverscharlady · 06/07/2014 09:02

I tend to pay my kids deal with things like this. Alternatively, threaten to ask a neighbour to sort it out, on the premise that dh is too squeamish.

Fizzyfuzzy123 · 06/07/2014 09:04

Yanbu I hate rats dead or alive, if that makes me wimpy I'm a wimp!

oldsilver · 06/07/2014 09:05

You'll have to, at least, double bag it if you are going to bin it. And very soon too. Dead rats stink.

Also I hope you, or your neighbours don't have cats - the rat may have been poisoned so another reason you (and why not you?) will have to dispose of it asap.

Goblinchild · 06/07/2014 09:38

Trade, you deal with the crow, he does the next two dirty nappies.

blueshoesy · 06/07/2014 10:40

Good point oldsilver, I hadn't thought of that. Made DH a cup of coffee and he's just gone and sorted it out.

Hehe they are good ideas mrsminivers and goblinchild.

Glad I'm not the only one fizzy and bloodman Smile
