He is 44 on Sunday, he hasn't really got any hobbies (no time tbh) but is an avid reader. He has a Kindle so can't buy him books.

He made a lovely fuss of our recent wedding anniversary and bought me a nice watch, I got him a pair of shorts! (very nice but still about £40 to his £300 he spent on me) so I feel even more under pressure to get him something nice!

We have a babysitter booked for night out but need something to get him. I am near a city for shops and can order online, budget is bout £150.

Ohh that's hard...

Does he have a favourite book? That you could possibly get signed? Wouldn't cost much but would take effort.

Any figures or collatable stuff from a favourite movies?

DoJo · 04/07/2014 14:13

What does he like? Food, drink, music, films, tv? Tickets to see a band, stand up comedian, theatre, other kind of show? Lesson doing something he's always wanted to try (throwing a pot, learning an instrument, watercolours, tailoring). A gift experience - driving fast cars, zorbing, helicopter flight, segwaying, clay pigeon shooting?

Some sort of experience rather than a thing? Drive a race car, fly a helicopter, hunt with a bird of prey or whatever.

If he has a favourite book then an extra nice copy from the folio society.

A picture framed of somewhere you both love? I was looking at some retro train company posters nicely framed of places DP and I have been to.

A guitar?

MaxPepsi · 04/07/2014 14:39

Tickets for the theatre/concert

Any Book festivals near you?

A magazine subscription? I love reading books however I find magazines a real indulgence so would be overjoyed with this as a gift.

A kindle voucher

A food hamper of his favourite sweets, chocs, biscuits, wine etc etc

Brilliant ideas! Thanks

Trying to book some gig tickets for him now. Sadly Radiohead and The Specials are both sold out but will find something!

Also got him some pants, can't go wrong with pants, got Hugo Boss as he loves the expression to "Hugo boss" someone, so a jokey and practical gift.
