WABU to complain about a poster of Kylie?

I am in hospital with my child, on a children's ward. There is a day room that is for the children & parents to use. It has some toys and a plays station and tv in it as well as a few sofas.

I popped in there for a cup of tea earlier and was surprised to look up and see a big poster in front of me of a woman wearing a bra ands knickers and posing in a very provocative way. On closer inspection, I realised it was a poster of Kylie and she has signed it, for the children's ward.

I may be unreasonable (I have had very little sleep) but the more I looked at it, the more it incensed me. It just seems unnecessary and bloody inappropriate for the day room.

I went out and spoke to the two women on ward reception an they looked at me as if I was a complete twerp. One of them shrugged and said:: "Yes, but teenagers use that room you see".

I said to her "Presumably you have teenage girls as well as boys? If I saw that on the wall in my place of work, I would complain about it. It wouldn't be appropriate in a school, it is not appropriate here, I don't want to look at it when I am sitting in there & I don't think it sends an acceptable message to any teenagers or children, male or female".

I was clearly very cross by this time. The woman shrugged again and said "Well, we can only pass it on".

The lack of sleep and worry is making me feel angrier by the minute (worry about my child, not specifically the Kylie poster!).

Would I be unreasonable to rip it off the wall and hide it? Or should I just take a deep breath and let this one go?

LaurieFairyCake · 02/07/2014 15:37

I would draw in a skirt and blouse

I have no shame and wouldn't give a fuck

AnyFucker · 02/07/2014 15:44

That is inappropriate for a children's ward (and actually inappropriate full stop)

For God's sake, Kylie, put it away

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/07/2014 16:09

Completely inappropriate. YANBU.

CSIJanner · 02/07/2014 16:11

Tweet her the picture and ask her if she really thought such a picture was appropriate for children (not teens) and would she like to send anther more appropriate one in its place and then eBay the original

Mrsjayy · 02/07/2014 16:12

Oh god I was away to say oh you are being a bit daft but sae the picture yanbu change kylie for a bobie model bet they wouldnt have that up

Mrsjayy · 02/07/2014 16:13

Booby

worldgonecrazy · 02/07/2014 16:16

Definitely inappropriate for a childrens' ward. I'd also tweet the picture, and contact local press too.

I sincerely hope that Kylie didn't know it was for a childrens' ward when she signed it.

TheCowThatLaughs · 02/07/2014 16:18

Of course you're not being unreasonable op! I can't believe anyone thinks you are. I can only assume whoever sent it either didn't know where it was going, or is a complete dickhead. There really is NO need to sexualise a children's ward dayroom.

MagicMojito · 02/07/2014 16:34

Funny how now we've seen it everybody thinks yanbu.

Cocolepew · 02/07/2014 19:54

Definitely not appropriate, I'd be drawing a dress on it too.

throwaway1256 · 02/07/2014 19:59

Well I certainly wouldn't have minded seeing that when I was a teenager, but definitely inappropriate for a room that children are using.
