This house has been on the market for a while now and they have just increased the price Shock

Bungalow
Devon
= overpriced.

Lots of people want to retire down that way and people seem to like beige bungalows to live out their days in.

Don't get it myself though.

What. The. Fuck.

Do you get the fields as well? It is not clear how big the garden is. I would not pay that much unless the garden was huge.

PetulaGordino · 30/06/2014 21:51

That is like looking at my grandparents' house

The kitchen tiles are interesting

silversun · 30/06/2014 21:57

No garden, it stops at the edge of the patio. The village is pretty much 50/50 locals and retired londoners......

Pumpkinnose · 30/06/2014 22:00

I live in London and thought what good value it was Grin

RiverTam · 30/06/2014 22:02

is that a lot? Wouldn't get you a 2 bed flat round my way so my thoughts may be somewhat skewed!

Chippednailvarnish · 30/06/2014 22:02

Does this make you feel any better?

Teeb · 30/06/2014 22:06

What's on the wall above the fireplace in picture 4? It looks a bit like a tabloid picture of Madonna as the Virgin Mary.

Ohanarama · 30/06/2014 22:06

Seems reasonable to me - bungalows fetch pretty good prices nowadays as they don't tend to build new ones very often. This one has amazing views and is in a desirable area. Plus 60s/70s properties usually have better dimensions than more modern ones and have more potential to extend or convert the loft. Also I'm guessing non-estate location.....need I go on?

ConferencePear · 30/06/2014 22:08

It's not just Devon though is it ? Houses like this in favoured villages in south Derbyshire are bought as building plots and replaced by something magnificent.

KirstyJC · 30/06/2014 22:10

There are loads of little villages in Devon that are apparently 'desireable' and the prices are ridiculous. I don't like the Honiton area myself, although I don't know exactly where this bungalow is. I think it is overpriced but then if someone is prepared to pay it, fair play to them.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 30/06/2014 22:10

But all your neighbours will smell of wee!

trufflesnout · 30/06/2014 22:47

And it's hideous! It's not like you're getting some quaint little Devonshire cottage.

Harriebabe · 30/06/2014 22:52

We used to have that sofa 20 years ago

todayisnottheday · 30/06/2014 22:57

Half the house appears inaccessible from the other half Confused

It's in Honiton, it's about average I'd say.

ChelsyHandy · 30/06/2014 23:00

Potential plot, for someone with a decent budget to build something nice.

PetulaGordino · 01/07/2014 07:53

estate agents are always leaving doors off the plans or putting htem in the wrong place

i love the way that the FIRST interior photo shown is of the utility room Confused

Germgirl · 01/07/2014 08:00

How do you get into the 'Kitchen / breakfast room' without going out of the back doors in the lounge & going back in through the conservatory?!
I thought it was quite cheap too. I live in a tiny 2/3 bed house in SE London that's 'worth' more than that bungalow.

PetulaGordino · 01/07/2014 08:04

probably a fault by the person who drew the plans up. there's also an enormous hole in the sitting room wall

londonrach · 01/07/2014 08:05

Parents live near honiton. Lovely part of the world but this seems very overpriced. There's must be more to this. Only two bedroom....another with for bedrooms not the village or op one....

trufflesnout · 01/07/2014 12:10

Hmm at all the "that's a bargain! My cardboard box in the Thames is worth more!" - surely everyone knows the London market exists only to itself!?

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 01/07/2014 13:00

We had the same kitchen as the one posted by Londonrach in our council flat over 20 years ago Grin, except we didn't have an odd looking extra wide dishwasher (pic 5).

I suppose the target market for 400k Devon bungalows is downsizing London retirees, hence the massive prices that look cheap to anyone selling a family home within the M25.
