possibly the rudest twat of a delivery driver ever.
please feel free to give me any worse examples.
having a piece of furniture delivered yesterday. Ordered it online and the site says in big bold letters to check the item before signing delivery.
So, I was talking to someone at home when the phone rang so I left it thinking if it's important the person will ring back. 2 minutes later the door bell rings and I answer it to see delivery man. His greeting words were " why the hell didn't you answer your phone when you were in?"
I said sorry didn't realise it would be you.
DM says " are you going to help me carry it in?"
me: " of course, just give me a minute"
I pop my head round living room door to tell visitor and by the time I get to front door he's putting the item over his shoulder at the back of his van
ME: " oh right, you've managed then"
DM "yeah, no thanks to you"
He then told me he didn't have time to wait for me to check it. he has better things to do and if I insist on wasting time he'll just go without me signing.
I stood my ground and unwrapped it and checked it over whilst he huffed and puffed and repeatedly told me I was being awkward and he has stuff to do.
I suggested he hep me remove the layers of packaging to speed things up but he said that's not his job ( in which case it's not my job to help you carry stuff out the van you tosser)
I signed and he left with a sarcastic " it's been a pleasure"
So AIBU to phone his company tomorrow and tell them what a twat he is?

Report him? I'd have given him both barrels there and then. Totally unacceptable.

Pint, no this company did not ask me to declare parking restrictions. The parking restrictions were only two hours and they were only 10 minutes away from the end of the restriction. And in the invoice, they highlighted in bold red that the delivery men were expected to assemble the furniture and that I was to make sure this happened. What leads me to believe that it's not the first time they find a convenient excuse not to do so.

Definitely complain. Rude bastard.

Hi OP and everyone.

I've done home delivery and this guy was a twat. HOWEVER: some delivery companies underbid for the work and sub it out to owner drivers, which means that you get desperate guys trying to do a two man job solo. I was once expected to move 200kg rolls of carpet on my own: I put the keys on the desk and walked out.

Have no sympathy though, because the best way to stop it is to drive the buggers out of business.

Another saying definitely complain - that's shocking & especially because you felt intimidated as that's way more than simple rudeness!

Phone and raise fifty sorts of hell. In fact if the company has an online presence use that too. Insist on an apology.

I ordered a wardrobe, i cam ready built i explained when buying it that it wouldn't fit up the stairs (as the smaller one the month before hadn't fitted) they assured me the driver would be happy to take it to peices and carry it upstairs.

Well driver came, wouldn't even try to take it upstairs, so i phoned the company explained what was happening and passed the phone over. the wardrobe was dismantled as i explained it would need to be and carried upstairs.

I felt very strong and empowered that day :)

Conversely, there was one firm that wouldn't permit us to assemble or unpack. Like we paid that any mind when faced with a pregnant or disabled customer. We noted it of course, and if the desk jockeys complained we'd tell them to sack us.

And we always waited until we were back in the wagon before we ridiculed the wallpaper.

God I miss it, but my knees don't.
