I don't think Marty and jan were friends, it was more a group that had formed - Marty and Rizzo , frenchie and Marty, jam and frenchie - prob over a long time

Danny changed his clothes too!

I never saw Rizzo's song as confessing to be ho, I saw it as her starting off being sad that other people thought that but actually she was going to live her life as she damn well wanted to.

Danny and Cha Cha's dancing was better, definitely. Not sure I saw them as being a couple though.

It's funny watching Grease now. As a small child everyone looks old so I didn't really notice that all of them had left their teens far behind them. Watching it now I giggle, they're all still older than me, playing teens! Grin

Sad that Cha Cha and Kenickie have both passed away.

Rizzo is lovely

Not a tease
Not wasting her life
Not hurtful, not a thief or a liar

And she can sing her feelings! Win win

slithytove · 28/06/2014 17:54

Danny was beautiful though

I never saw Cha Cha and Danny as being naughty or dirty, just that he was easily led, and she was a strong character who wanted to win a dance competition!

I love rizzo. She's the only one of the whole bunch who knows who she is. Not like sandy changing her whole self for a man.

kickassangel · 28/06/2014 17:58

Even from about 7 years old I identified with Rizzo not Sandy. Why my parents were surprised that as a teen I wore black and stayed out all night I have no idea. The writing was on the wall when I sang 'there are worse things' into my hairbrush, and didn't like 'hopelessly devoted'.

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/06/2014 17:59

kickass I too always hated "hopelessly devoted". Still do.

Sandy was a bit wet, wasn't she.

When I first watched it I thought Danny only change by putting on a cardigan, which seemed all out of proportion to the change in Sandy. It's only more recently that I understood what 'lettering' in a sport actually meant, and that he earned that cardigan...

slithytove · 28/06/2014 18:57

Does that mean we are all secretly tarts with hearts Grin

areyoubeingserviced · 28/06/2014 19:22

Even as a young child I disliked Sandy. She was such a drip.
Always preferred Rizzo, she had so much fire.
John Travolta was gorgeous as Danny , those eyes.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 28/06/2014 19:27

About ten years ago I watched it again and suddenly realised that I hated that sandy had to dress 'sluttily' to get the guy. What she wears if fine but she shouldn't have to wear it to get him. I've never enjoyed it since and sit and mutter rants all the way through as it's not the only thing that bugs me.
And yes Rizzo is the best though I can't see her in the same light after seeing this today

He should have just bought a cardi in Walmart. Would have been much easier.

Jan was my favourite Grin

I'm totally biased because I played her in the school musical Blush

whattheseithakasmean · 28/06/2014 19:50

I am convinced Danny & Rizzo got together after high school anyway. Rizzo was too smart for Kenickie, who seemed a bit dim and Danny was bound to get bored of wet Sandy.

Danny & Rizzo used to date, so I think theirs is the real love story, the film just ended too soon to show it!
