What is that video? Does anyone know, please tell me, it said 98% of people couldn't watch it. I can't look at the picture. Why would someone post that stuff on fb? It's so odd.

id love someone to tell us why we feel like this when seeing these images...some advert was banned for having same affect...face with lots of little faces on it.

I have seen the toad sadly....

RockandRollsuicide · 01/07/2014 22:40

the worst for me used to be that wrapping round meat, like a bandages...

phantomnamechanger · 01/07/2014 22:42

Rock - I think the leading theory is it's something to do with infections/infestations/disease. So patterns of tiny holes might be associated with an illness, parasites, woodworm etc

phantomnamechanger · 01/07/2014 22:43

and we feel repulsed by things that may actually be harmful to us

LJBanana · 01/07/2014 22:44

I do think I may suffer from this phobia. Just the title Of this thread made my arms go funny, a bit tingly and weak. I have a huge belly button phobia, I cannot stand them. My throat now feels like I could gag, and my toes curl.
If I think about it too much I could cry real tears. Yep it's official, I'm a massive freak.

Fortysomethingwinelover · 01/07/2014 22:46

I didn't believe my nephew when he told me about bot flies. I stupidly googled it and it came up on You Tube. Down the side of the video I watched for 3 seconds was one of botfly being removed from a breast. I switched the bloody thing off, without watching it, completely freaked out.

Cocolepew · 01/07/2014 22:47

The bbc stopped showing the promo with lots of people in it didnt they? It was freaking too many people out.

I was taking the seeds out of a watermelon earlier. I was trying to do it with my eyes closed Blush

I didn't know it had a name , I used to say it was a barnacle on whales feeling, because I saw a whale with barnacles on it on a nature programme and it made me feel ill.

Beveridge · 01/07/2014 22:53

I get weirded out by driving behind lorries that have scaffolding poles bound together on them with the holes facing me. And you can't exactly look away when you're driving!

mollymawk · 01/07/2014 22:53

All I've seen is photos of actual non-photoshopped lotus seed pods and those make me feel sick. Although I am perfectly okay with crumpets (as long as I don't eat too many).

I love this - "Don't Google Surinam toads". That is absolutely the last phrase it would ever have occurred to me to look up. Until now. However I think I should resist!

LJBanana · 01/07/2014 22:53

I'm not googling anything. I can't cope!

I just googled trypophobia... They all look fake except the foot. Just looks like they had lots of verrucas and or dead skin and sat in the bath a while.

The toad was fascinating!

Waimaz · 02/07/2014 00:43

omg!Angry I felt sick! I think I really do suffer from trypophobia. but that boob pic is sooo horrible

Boudica1990 · 02/07/2014 00:55

I'm with phantom, I think its some type of inbuilt repulsion to save us from infectious diseases. It doesn't look healthy, so we dislike it.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/07/2014 06:50

I think for those of us who are particularly bothered by it affecting bodies that could well be it Boudica1990.

ephemeralfairy · 02/07/2014 07:39

There was a trypophobia thread about a year ago, I had never heard of it so stupidly googled it and have never been the same since. Phobias can certainly be induced!

LuubyLuu · 02/07/2014 09:25

I'm actually really glad that so many other people have had the same almost primitive and violent response to this image, thought I was going bonkers.
From an intellectual perspective I'm intrigued as to the cause, but to push this further back into my head am not going to investigate any further!

Binkyresurrected · 02/07/2014 09:33

I saw the boob photo last year, my breasts spent 1 week tingling and itching, this wasn't helped by my DD who found it very entertaining wearing a bra that had sequins sewn on it, which when covered by a T shirt looked like she had a holy wormy breast.

phantomnamechanger · 02/07/2014 23:16

looked like she had a holy wormy breast

^ shudder! and itch!

trevortrevorslattery · 03/07/2014 09:24

Blergh. This has all reminded me that my viewing enjoyment of last year's Tour de France was ruined by the Movistar team's cycle helmets. EERGGH. Google image search "movistar cycle helmets tour de france" if you wish to be appalled.

Bella5509 · 04/07/2014 21:29

I am so glad I am not the only one repulsed by this, it's really freaked me out, I know it's fake but I can't stop thinking about it and makes me feel sick, I've never before had a problem until I seen that image, I feel so disturbed by it, my husband thinks I'm mad!

phantomnamechanger · 04/07/2014 21:55

bleurgh! yes trevor those helmets are horrid

BeyondTheSea · 04/07/2014 22:07

I feel exactly the same Bella, if it's any consolation, I am starting to feel a bit less freaked out now (1 week later).

Bella5509 · 04/07/2014 23:05

Thank you beyond the sea, been like this since Monday, hopefully I'll forget about it soon, keep telling myself I'm being silly but can't shift the feeling :)

oozmakappa · 04/07/2014 23:32

I was beginning to forget but noticed my dd's toothbrush tonight has a holey pattern on the handle which has put the image back in my mind. Will be binning it tomorrow and buying her a new one.
