To put my new sneaker up her bum?

So I finally replaced my old faithful sneakers (joggers, track shoes, whatever) and got a nice shiny new pair to wear to competitions. First day out and someone (not a friend, just another competitor) comes over, looks at my shoes, says 'oh, new sneakers, hey?' And proceeds to stomp on my foot with their filthy, manky sneaker. Now, I'm not precious, they'll get filthy eventually, but did she really find this necessary? Apparently IABU to be annoyed because 'everyone does it when someone gets new shoes'. Really, is this some tradition I missed?

Never heard of that particular tradition before. Time to invent a new good luck thing of tripping her up in the race, weirdo that she is.

Love this - so typical of MN

OP - am I being unreasonable to be annoyed when someone stamps on my new sneakers?

answers:

You are BU to wear new sneakers, you can't be a 'proper' runner like me
You are BU to use the word sneakers, how very dare you.
Are you 12 ???? Are you? Are you?
Are you American ???????? Shock
If you aren't American why are you using the word 'sneakers'? Angry
You can't really be Australian - Australians don't say sneakers Hmm

.......... and so on.

I'm British - I have heard of and use the words sneakers, trainers, runners, sandshoes, plimsolls, etc etc - it's called having a vocabulary.

Sheeesh.

In answer to your question OP (you sneaker mentioning, pseudo Australian, amateur athlete you, Wink ) anyone who stamps on someone else's new sneakers is a knob, yes it would be appropriate to shove your sneaker up her bum.

I might have to get my dog to take on sock pissing duties. He would be happy to oblige, I'm sure.
