I had a long thread about this but can't seem to find it.
Basically I noticed a bump on my sons head at the start of April, he had jumped up to give my husband a hug that morning and banged it do didn't think much of it, fine in himself / not tender etc.
A few weeks later it was still there so I went along to the doctor who wasn't concerned and sent us home.
He then went off sick and a few more weeks went by and whilst the bump went down it was still there so I went to a&e.
She ordered blood results and organised an outpatients appointment to see him again / give me results.
As he had an accident as a baby which required brain surgery she told me to get a referal done back to them too which I did.
Both appointments came a few weeks ago for this week coming, the week that we are away at various theme parks with hotel stays.
I thought I could shuffle things about however we couldn't do it without losing all the money we've paid and to top it off my hubby has been promoted which means after this week off no annual leave for 3 months whilst he's on probation.
So I've called to re arrange ( both had new appointments for 3 weeks time so not too long a wait thank god ) but just feel awful that after I've pushed for all these tests / referrals I've had to cancel :(

Try not to worry - after all, if the professionals involved thought it was that urgent then they would have fast-tracked the referral, and if you were in any doubt that your son needed the appointment more urgently, then I'm sure you wouldn't have worried about the holiday.

Having a nice family holiday when you won't be able to for at least another three months will benefit your son in other ways, so just take it as 'one of those things' and enjoy yourself while you're away.

The paediatric outpatient was for blood results which I already got my gp to chase weeks ago which were clear ( I told the receptionist this over the phone )
The neuro one was fast tracked at my request however the gp wasn't concerned, it was more for my piece of mind.
I'm glad it's only 3 weeks away and we are away for half of that, I just don't want them to think I'm not concerned when I really have been out of my mind with worry!
He is and always has been fine in himself but I wanted these things checked, just so unfortunate the appointments came when all the lovely things for him are booked!
Thanks for your reply :)

Going to enjoy our holiday and will have the appointments in a few weeks so not a long wait.
I'm sure he's fine, I just don't like letting people down who have taken the time to make appointments for him!
But he's fine, always has been! I just will feel better when it's all checked over, but it's only a few weeks away and he will love all the things we have planned for him over this week! :)

Just wondering if a child with a potential head problem should be going to theme parks Confused

Mixedupmind · 23/06/2014 19:26

He's only 3 so won't be on any rides that are fast / high impact etc!
Just zoos, train rides around the parks, things like that.
It's very likely considering the blood results are normal that it's just the shape of his skull after surgery - at least this is what all the doctors have said so far :)
