I feel quite bad.

This person is an acquaintance, She was a single parent for a few months, then she met someone who pretty much moved in, he was paying her bills for her and moved in properly earlier this year.

She has always worked full time with a salary of around 20k.

She seems to have an awful lot of money, and, as a single parent myself, I couldnt quite work it out. However, I have seen her tax credits renewal form as she didnt understand something and asked me to have a look for her, and shes claiming to be a lone parent, working 16.3 hours a week, earning 12k a year less than she actually is.

She is also claiming housing benefit as a single parent.

So, I have completed the DWP form and sent it off. I couldnt help it, it makes me see red.

But I now feel terrible.

Lefty I have only just read this thread through and I hope you are Ok today. Please don't let this thread be the final straw for you. You clearly have loads on your plate and I know how it is to feel society is against you for even existing. I don't blame you for feeling the way you do, but why not hide this thread and start your own in carers for some support and to sound off about everything? Flowers

ILoveCoreyHaim · 24/06/2014 11:11

hread is still going! I am 100% sure it's bullshit!Aside from what I said about the tax credits using p60's etc (which they do for me so it's spot on) how would she lie to the housing benefit people about her income?! You have to provide payslips to prove it!

No you don't. You do when you first claim. They never checked my entitlement to housing benefit for 4 years and didn't even know I had a 4 yr old daughter. I have never gave the tax credits pay slips either. Why do you have do do renewals every year if they know what you earn.

WhistlingPot · 24/06/2014 11:12
Blush

Missed a few pages there! Is Lefty Ok? Has she posted since last night?

ILoveCoreyHaim · 24/06/2014 11:13

This what he declaration is for to sign you have supplied the correct info and agree to report any changes. If you don't then that's tour look out

ILoveCoreyHaim · 24/06/2014 11:17

Ignore my shocking posts I'm on phone and should preview

normalishdude · 24/06/2014 11:42

Fair play to you- I wouldn't feel guilty if I were you. If we all did this, then the whole system would be even more fucked than it is now. Even if you're wrong, the DWP will find out either way.

Deverethemuzzler · 24/06/2014 11:47

If woowoo cannot understand how caring for one's own disabled children saves the tax payers a shed load of money s/he clearly has a very limited understanding of social history.

Until very recently children with disabilities were removed by the Tate (albeit with nominal consent from the parents) and 'cared' for entirely at the expense of the the tax payer.

Long stay hospitals were incredibly expensive, residential units now cost many thousands per child.

Residential care is sometimes the only option for families and I make no judgement on that difficult choice.

But if anyone thinks carers do NOT save this country billions they are clearly NOT thinking of the alternative option.

This is usually due to a blip in their critical thinking abilities bought on by a refusal to leave go of their entrenched prejudice

But hey? I call someone a nasty piece of work and get deleted.

Wrightstuff123 · 24/06/2014 11:53

Lots of nasty pieces of work on this thread excusing a benefit cheat.

No doubt they have something to hide as they are defending the indefensible.

TillyTellTale · 24/06/2014 11:59

Nowt to hide here. This household even gets extra money for work, i.e. WTC. Recently did the renewal, in which I not only declared the amounts on our P60s, but I declared the £12 I'd got through self-employment.

Deverethemuzzler · 24/06/2014 12:00

Just don't get why obvious name changers who write pos like yours wright get away with what you do.

You have just used a phase that is apparently delectable, called someone you don't know a benefit cheat and accuse have the thread of committing a crime

But if I was to use a good, old fashioned, honest insult like 'you are a cunt' for example, I would be deleted.

Just don't get it.

expatinscotland · 24/06/2014 12:01

'Why do you have do do renewals every year if they know what you earn.'

Because they have no way of knowing if you are now a lone parent or a partnered parent, if your child has become disabled, if you have become disabled and now qualify for the disability element of WTC. I would add, 'If your child has died,' but the council automatically registers that with HMRC and DWP when you register the child's death.

Smilesandpiles · 24/06/2014 12:06

Devere - this is because MNHQ have shown their colours a number of times on threads like this over the years. The last thread that was allowed to stand made a complete joke of their own "This is my child" campaign, several complained only to be fobbed up with the usual - report a post blah blah blah.... I lost all respect for MNHQ from that day.

When it comes to anyone who claims or the disabled - every single thread like this is always allowed to stand. If you start a thread with racist views or those against a charity or even a bloody supermarket they will be deleted in an instant and you banned. Benefits and the disabled are fair game though.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2014 12:09

I am not sure if some posters are name changing to be goady or are just unable to think about things in depth.

Either way I think they are best ignored.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2014 12:10

"You object to benefit bashing so you must be committing fraud is an argument that even a 4 year old wouldn't make."

expatinscotland · 24/06/2014 12:10

I had to become a carer when DD1 was suddenly diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia. She had to be treated, of course, in a children's oncology unit, the nearest of which is a 2-hour drive from our home.

She required intensive, entirely inpatient rounds of chemo, back to back, with months in strict isolation.

What was I supposed to do, leave a child on her own in hospital?

My DH had to leave work to look after our toddler and young school-aged child. There was no family or anyone to help, and childcare in a rural area is very limited, certainly not available for a person who works shifts across a 24/7 pattern.

We had to wait three months to claim benefit besides tax credits and child benefit as he had to leave work voluntarily, and the Tories changed the rules on DLA. Three month wait unless you are considered terminal.

The irony is that my child died in far less time than many who were diagnosed at terminal at the outset.

Migsy1 · 24/06/2014 12:16

She works full time, not even min wage would pay £8k a year for that. And again, I have seen her tax credit form where it said 16.3 hours a week.

Well, she missed a trick here because you get more if you work 30+ hours a week.

YouMakeMeHappy · 24/06/2014 12:18

How can you say that disablist posts don't get deleted? Just the other day you got a post deleted on a thread I was on just for using the phrase "disablist bandwagon"

You said it was disgusting language and MNHQ agreed and deleted it. So you are wrong to say that disablist stuff is allowed to stand. Do you think this whole thread should be deleted because it encourages people to report?

TantrumsAndBalloons · 24/06/2014 12:19

I prefer the old fashioned "you are acting like a cunt"

Very apt for this thread i think.

Oh and no benefits here, fraudulent or otherwise.

So that pokes a great big fucking hole in that stupid argument doesn't it?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2014 12:23

I got that post deleted.

I did not say disablist language is allowed to stand.

whattheseithakasmean · 24/06/2014 12:23

I don't think anyone on this thread has said that people with disabilities, or caring for people with additional support needs, should not claim benefits. Indeed, the overwhelming view appears to be that it is such people that need benefits the most and that is why they must be protected from fraudsters.

Going further, I cannot see an overwhelming view that benefits are wrong, too generous, or people shouldn't claim them. Quite the reverse. The only issue the OP had was people claiming fraudulently.

Surely we can all agree committing fraud is wrong? The only disagreement is how one responds to a suspected case of fraud - report or ignore.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2014 12:24

Oh no I got SN bandwagon deleted.

My bad.

There is so much of that crap around. It gets confusing.

HaroldLloyd · 24/06/2014 12:26

It wasn't disablist bandwagon, the poster actually said something along the lines of jumping on the SN bandwagon.

Which I'm sure you know.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 24/06/2014 12:27

disabilist stuff is left to stand.....I have lost count of the times MNHQ have said that it is left to "educate"

Seems to be working great, doesn't it?

HaroldLloyd · 24/06/2014 12:27

Pity there isn't a goady twat bandwagon. It would be a full one.

YouMakeMeHappy · 24/06/2014 12:30
