Quote;

Most shop stewards would laugh at our modest demands. But what we carers are asking for would make an enormous difference to our lives and futures:
• Carers allowance for all live-in carers.
• A state-funded occupational pension scheme for full-time carers.
• Training for working-age carers to help us sustain appropriate work within our environment and to provide us with the luxury of a working life.
• Social housing to recognise the requirements of disability and caring.
• State money given only to carers’ organisations that properly support carers.

Very stealthy strike though.

Totally outrageous when you think about it.

That carers don't get those things? Yes.

Still trying to wrap my head round the 'virtual strike' thing. Looks like a non-strike-strike, which makes sense for carers .

It's totally ridiculous (and I say that as a carer). A 'virtual' strike is nothing more than saying 'oh we're not happy, by the way'. I mean, what even is a virtual strike??? Nothing. That's what. It's not a strike of any sort. It's just saying 'oh yea, I'd strike if I could'.

If I said I was going to do a 'virtual Mt. Everest hike' and that by doing so I'd be typing the words 'I'm doing a hike up Mt. Everest' I doubt anyone would sponsor me, do you?
