My 76 yo mother was gardening at the end of her garden when a melon came flying over her back hedge and smashed against her caravan Hmm

Why would you even do that???? Back neighbours have grown up children. My mother can be a bit feisty ( think Catherine tates nana but scarier)

Can only think they were wanting to thow it into the alley but thew it too hard.

My mum said she launched a barrel of expletives but heard nothing - no laughing no "oops sorry"

Why would anyone do that??

I'd love to have a free melon.

Wholenewsituation · 22/06/2014 19:55

Um...... Hmm

LEMmingaround · 22/06/2014 19:55

Not a manky one splattered all over your caravan and blouse though. Maybe it fell out of an aeroplane

It's summer....what does she expect ffs...?

Did some people not get a melon flying into their garden today? It's flying gala melon day. Sort of like flying ant day but more fruity.

Ragglefrock · 22/06/2014 20:00

That sounds annoying and dangerous but Im in stitches laughing!!!

TitsCrossed · 22/06/2014 20:01
Shock

She was lucky it didn't hit her rather than the caravan! How is your mum LEM (memory issues? Or have I remembered wrong)

The weirdest thing to come flying over my fence was a used kitchen sponge.

dingit · 22/06/2014 20:02

Maybe it was carried by a large, erm bird?

LEMmingaround · 22/06/2014 20:02

I didn't get a melon -or any other fruit for that matter.

On a serious not if it had actually hit her it could have really hurt her. I am slightly worried it could be the start of some sort of neighbourhood fued

Best AIBU title I've seen in a long time!!!

Sorry, poor LEM's mum.

Can she take revenge with some other flying fruit? Although not apricots from our Sainsburys, they were all rock hard and could do some serious damage...

londonrach · 22/06/2014 20:03

Sorry will stop laughing in a minute...

londonrach · 22/06/2014 20:05

Op sorry about that. Which neighbours do you think the melon come from or did a passing flying unicorn drop it. Free melons anyone but if it hit your mum i suppose it could cause damage. Your poor mum almost hit by a low flying melon.

LEMmingaround · 22/06/2014 20:05

Dingit - I said that to my dp and he said "what sort of bird a fucking pterodactyl? "

Titscrossed - no you haven't got it wrong ( thats a whole other thread and ongoing) but after she called we went round there on the way home and the evidence was there to see. So I am baffled.

londonrach · 22/06/2014 20:06

Sorry op talk to your neighbours to find where he came from

missknows · 22/06/2014 20:07

I just want to buy a melon. (Best ad ever)

LEMmingaround · 22/06/2014 20:08

Mary her revenge options so far are non printable. But yes some strawberries and a catapault sound like a plan.

OP posts:
LEMmingaround · 22/06/2014 20:09

No need to be pedantic susie - she was hit by the splatter. Still unpleasant - I dont think she likes melon either.

GetYourFingersOutOfThere · 22/06/2014 20:09

Make some lost melon posters. Someone may be looking for it.

londonrach · 22/06/2014 20:10

LEMmingaround · 22/06/2014 20:11

Singlesuzie · 22/06/2014 20:13

Not being pedantic. The thread title was misleading.

londonrach · 22/06/2014 20:13
