My DH unreasonable?

DogCalledRudis · 22/06/2014 11:09

He asked me to get rid of my books. He said what other people will think of seeing "christian anarchism" and " what is anarchism". I'm not getting rid of my books. I love reading.

Is your interest in Christian Anarchism relatively new? Have you been reading this kind of thing since you knew DH?

HappyAgainOneDay · 22/06/2014 11:14

What have Christian Anarchism and What is Anarchism go to do with it?

My ex couldn't understand why I had so many books when I'd already read them. He wondered why I'd want to read them again. They are all sorts of books: fiction, non-fiction, autobiographies, novels, adventures you name it.

They are your books. Keep them. I'd be bereft without mine.

Tweasels · 22/06/2014 11:14

He asked you to get rid of those specific books or all your books?

SolidGoldBrass · 22/06/2014 11:15

It's entirely unreasonable to tell another adult to get rid of books just because you don't like the title or the subject matter.

However, does he want you to get rid of 'some' books because your house is overrun with them? Or is it just that he thinks what you read is under his control?

ilovesooty · 22/06/2014 11:15

Of course he's unreasonable.

Branleuse · 22/06/2014 11:16

is he ashamed of you?

pictish · 22/06/2014 11:17

It depends...have you got hundereds of books, or is it the subject matter?

wafflyversatile · 22/06/2014 11:18

Where are the books? Are they on the bookshelves or you living in a cave and tunnel system made of books?

MrsWinnibago · 22/06/2014 11:18

The big question here is if the OP's interest in Christian Anarchism is new or not.

Icimoi · 22/06/2014 11:18

Gah, I hate people who obsess about what other people will think. If they are people who will think worse of you because you possess those books, then they are people you don't want to know anyway.

Lucked · 22/06/2014 11:21

All your books?
Books on anarchism?

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 22/06/2014 11:22

Sort of feels like we have joined your argument half way through, op!

DogCalledRudis · 22/06/2014 11:23

He just says 'its not nice' when others sees these books. After all, he is a skinhead. He has 'mein kamph' on dislpay. And i cant have mine in bookshelf?

OP posts:
DogCalledRudis · 22/06/2014 11:25

He says people would think "he has a criminal wife"

He is very unreasonable. However I have an awful lot of books on Witchcraft around the house, some on display downstairs and some upstairs. I know DH is glad some of the books upstairs are out of sight but he would never tell me to get rid of them!
Why does it depend on whether
the interest in anarchism is new or not? Everybody develops new interests and I wouldn't expect to be told that I couldn't put a book on display just because I had only just discovered the subject.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 22/06/2014 11:33

Ah, I remember you from the anti-semitism thread.
Perhaps you could both do a lot more reading. I recommend 'If this is a man' Primo Levi and Anne Frank's diary for starters.

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 22/06/2014 11:34

Ahh!

DogCalledRudis · 22/06/2014 11:37

I read Anne Frank, it made me cry. Then i read John Sack, i cried even more.

BlameItOnTheMoonlight · 22/06/2014 11:50

I don't think books are your biggest worry.
