There is a massive park area playing fields play park. As I was coming through outside of park area was a Rottweiler, very big dog laying on a grass verge between park entrance and main road. It's a very hot day here, the dog looked very hot. The dog was out of view of the actual playing park and about 100 yards from the playing park and so It appeared no one was with the dog, it appeared very much on it's own.

Just wondered what other pesters would have done? So I can judge if I was UR.

are their gangs of thugs going round attacking Rottweilers Hmm

A dog that size with that much strength should not be out without owners close by and should be on a lead in a park with young children about. A dog could easily get agitated and defend itself it is a danger to the public not the general public a danger to the dog

Sorry I was doing the garden I did plan to come back honest!

What actually did was call 101, however they were very off with me and declared that as the dog was not doing anything wrong then what am I worried about?

So although I thought I wasn't being UR I did wonder.

Just to add I was concerned about the dog. It didn't have a tag on the collar and I had shopping, a bike and an 8 year old on a bike too, who was pretty apprehensive about the dog. So I did hang around and no one came. I would have thought the dog was approachable as it didn't blink an an eye at us hanging around close by. however it looked absolutely exhausted and hot.

We've had problems with big dogs, two of them, gambolling all over the estate, destroying anything they come across, snarling at anyone who approaches.. They got between us and our front door, and we couldn't get in for half an hour. When we did get in I rang 101 and the response was could I please bring the dogs down to the police station? i said how???? and i don't have a car, and the response was take them by bus!

Cant

I called 101 the other day about a dog I saw running down the middle of a main road in front of cars , the woman I spoke to was very off with me too.

I think it might be in their training.

YANBU- the police can be very dismissive about these issues. We have had more than one serious dog attack in our area. One involved two dogs, and both were put down, but other fierce dogs are still here.

I seen a suffice playing chicken on a busy road. I whistled of it and said come on and it followed m. It had no tags so I just talked to it and got it home. Took it in living room and locked my staffie in the kitchen. Gave it food and water, rung warden who came and scanned it. Had been missing for 2 days after getting out of fence and luckily was chipped. My dog got out, hes huge and luckily someone leashed him and brought him back home. I was so grateful

Op where do you live, please Google dog lost UK and register then post where he dog was and a description on the found dog section as sighted. Someone might be looking high and low for their pet. Also check lost and found dog sites on facebook

ILoveCoreyHaim · 21/06/2014 23:18

Register and post on here and alerts will be sent out to volunteers who will try and match it to a missing dog plus owner may be checking for sightings. This site has helped reunited 100s of dogs. Sounds like the poor dog needs help ASAP
