The fact that you dreamed you were walking down an orange path made of jellybeans when an otter with Simon Cowell's head offered you a banana that was shaped like a telephone which you then proceeded to talk to your second year maths teacher on IS NOT FASCINATING.

Sorry.

I'd say you probably wouldn't enjoy this book then www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0872863808?pc_redir=1403099873&robot_redir=1

One of my employees phoned me from their sick leave to tell me they had a dream about me in the week. I am their senior manager. I quite like this person but all I could think was 'shut the fuck up!'. It was all "you know what you said...?...hahahah...and then Jamie Oliver turned up..."

What makes people do this?

It's second only to looking at holiday/wedding photos.

WashingFanatic · 21/06/2014 10:57

I really enjoy trying to interpret dreams (within reason...30 seconds is enough time to relay it, I do not want a five minute extended explanation)

I find certain aspects, and how I've generally found they're true, to be fascinating. Such as dreaming about teeth or losing teeth can be related to money worries (I always dream about my teeth falling out when we're skint). Or dreaming about tidal waves (which I used to have recurrent nightmares about) was down to feeling overwhelmed in work at that time.

NecesitoDormir · 21/06/2014 10:58

It reminds me of the time DH said to me 'can I tell you about my dream?' I shut him down with the response 'I don't care about your dreams.' He followed with 'what about my hopes?'

I just let him witter at me for 2 minutes in the morning now whilst I brush my teeth. It's easier for me that way. Grin

expatinscotland · 21/06/2014 10:59

I'm with you.

noblegiraffe · 21/06/2014 11:00

I used to have a housemate who kept a dream diary and would regale us with the highlights. Fucking snoresville, I don't want to hear any of it. Even if I was in it. In fact especially if I was in it.

Ludways · 21/06/2014 11:00

I hate it, i nod and smile but I my head I'm screaming "Its's not real, kill me now!"

LuluJakey1 · 21/06/2014 11:00

I hate hearing about dreams. One of my work colleagues is fascinated by them and has a lengthy story about an even more bizarre dream that we hear every detail of almost every day.

I am so sick of hearing them am sure she just makes them up anyway

Yesterday, one of the young men at work said ' FFS A we're bored stupid by these stories' She just laughed and kept going! Then we all felt sorry for her and asked questions as if we were all interested - Englishness at its best eh!

KneesoftheBee · 21/06/2014 11:03

I had a dream you were going to start this thread Wink

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 21/06/2014 11:21

Only if its something amazingly wow then I don't care for other peoples dreams.

0pheliaBalls · 21/06/2014 11:27

Knees Grin

Oh ffs dream diaries/interpretation - DD had a giftset for her birthday from someone when she was about 13 that had a dream diary and book of interpretations in it. She found it mildly diverting for all of two nights after which it gathered dust on her nightstand until it got chucked. Unless you're a teenage girl, there's just no excuse for that sort of thing. And even then you're pushing it Grin

Having said that I do have the teeth dream when I'm worried about something.

Oh shit, I've just talked about my dreams rendering this whole thread redundant Sad

Oh dear 0phelia, you do realise that you are going to have a thread FULL of people posting about their dreams now don't you? Grin

DieselSpillages · 21/06/2014 12:16

I agree there is nothing more boring than listening to someone recount their dream

JohnFarleysRuskin · 21/06/2014 12:33

I agree.

If someone tells you a dream, tilt your head and say, 'hmm, this means you are a very uncreative and ordinary individual with poor people skills'

JohnFarleysRuskin · 21/06/2014 12:35

Oh I like looking at people's photos - at least they actually happened.

CallMeExhausted · 21/06/2014 12:41

I thought you were going to talk about aspirations, not sleep dreams. I was going to suggest YWB a bit U.

However, since it is about the insane rumblings of whatever a sleep addled mind comes up with - well, that's different.

I won't even tell you that I have birth to quintuplets in a dream last night. Won't mention it at all Grin

0pheliaBalls · 21/06/2014 12:54

No dreams on this thread please.

Apart from erotic ones which feature a totally ludicrous partner, they're OK fucking hilarious

In the spirit of that I shall divulge that one of my earliest erotic dreams featured Jim Davidson. I was about 14 and it put me off sex for life (DD is the result of immaculate conception)

I dreamed I was married to Graham Norton and we were out for a walk, holding hands wearing anoraks in the rain

Oops! Sorry!

Debs75 · 21/06/2014 13:52

I love hearing about dreams, the wilder and weirder the better.

I see I am in the minority here so I'll go get my coat Smile

LindaMcCartneySausage · 21/06/2014 14:12

If anyone starts a sentence with "I had this dream about..." I put my hand up, Ricky Lake talk-to-the-hand guest-style and stop them there. I care nothing for their dull dreams about spoons or dancing bee hives. Dreams - Absolutely the most boring conversation you can have.

FreudiansSlipper · 21/06/2014 14:23

I once read there is only one more thing more boring than listening to someone's problems and that is listening to their dreams I think it was Adrian Mole's mother explains a lot

I find it fascinating thankfully as its a big part of my work but not always when friends are discussing theirs Blush

like to analyse my own

expatinscotland · 21/06/2014 14:25

'What did this dream mean?' 'It means you experienced REM sleep, essential for the brain to recharge. Other than that, it means FA.'
