Neighbour burning garden waste

Neighbours used their garden incinerator and ruined the washing on the line. They'd cut half out dividing hedge to less than 5ft so in all likelihood they could see it was on the line. I quietly seethed but said nothing.

A couple of days later, with all the hedge now under 5ft (so they can def see our garden) I just happen to see neighbour emptying the incinerator so I rush outside, bring in the washing and ten minutes later he's lit it.

DP had the same problem, catching the washing just as the fire was lit and asked if we could be warned so we can bring in our washing. The lady neighbour apologised and said of course.

Come back home today grumpy enough as it is in this heat, 37 weeks pregnant and after dragging my toddler through the supermarket to find the note in the photo and smoke billowing through my garden. I asked neighbour why he didn't wait and he said be knocked but didn't know when I'd be home so went ahead. Another load of washing that needs to be redone.

AIBU to think that as he can see my washing on the line he doesn't light his bloody fire?

Elderflower, that's interesting. I knew about bonfires being illegal in gardens all year round in Ireland, but didn't know about 23rd June.

Must tell DH, he loves bonfires Grin

I wasn't out all day. I picked DS up from nursery and then bought something for tea on the way back. Less than 2 hours. For all he knows I could have just been in the shower or something, he knocked, I didn't answer, so he went ahead knowing it'd mess up the washing.

If it was after 6pm then yes.

I strongly suggest you don't leave your washing out when you are not in and then get the hell over yourself.

He tried to let you know which you have said is not a requirement under your council.

I've said that the council has no regulations such as time etc. It also states avoiding burning when neighbours have washing out, (which he didn't), not allowing the smoke to effect visibility on the road (which it did), speaking to neighbours to see whether it's an appropriate time and avoiding burning when wind will blow it into neighbours gardens.

He's burning again now, no notice, no washing on the line today though! Just means we can't use our garden again. Hopefully this is the last lot.
