AIBU to want to burst all the inflatables in my house?

Recently my two DDs have picked up an unhealthy obsession with all things inflatables. I'm not talking normal party balloons, they have chairs, lilo's, rings, beachballs all inflated and cluttering up the house! Alot of these things are pretty big, and when my DDs are playing with them all it is is continuous screeching and squeaking, screaming and the lot.

It's really driving me to the edge, you'd think the problem would only be relevant when my DDs are home, but even now they're just cluttering up the house for no good reason.

Anyone else have these problems with inflatables? If you popped them, how did they go down with your child? I understand that the girls can be attached to them but they're the bane of my existence atm. AIBU if I just take a knife and go on a popping rampage?

Presumably you bought them??
Learn to resist.
I would honestly let the air out, hide one or two and repeat until they have all "been lost!" But then I'm mean.

'Oh sweetheart, did the dog think it was one of her toys?'

MintyChops · 18/06/2014 21:53

Pinkbear beat me to it, I was about to offer the puncturing services of my terrier....

CarolineCoffeemugs · 18/06/2014 21:54

Well, the dog excuse would be good if our Jack Russel didn't avoid all the inflatables like the plague. Maybe I can say the dog snapped instead of me, though I'd hate to have my girls hate him like that :(

Perhaps a friend will call round with their dog?

CarolineCoffeemugs · 18/06/2014 22:02

@MintyChops, that's not a bad idea. I have a neighbour who owns a sheep dog with a nasty reputation for ball killing. Keeps the kids well away from her garden. Could invite her and the dog over for coffee - I'm not sure if the mess it would cause would be worth it though. Would be easier and quicker to just slash them, a terrible as it sounds.

Can you make them outdoor toys? They can only play with them in the back yard?

CarolineCoffeemugs · 18/06/2014 22:08

@BabyCat, I've tried this before, they just slowly seem to migrate back into the house over the course of a few days, weeks sometimes. And here in Ireland the weather is pretty bad so outside is not a valid option a lot of the time.
