to take dc out of school for 1 week every year

dc has second choice secondary. was quite happy as closest school, didn't put first because it felt a bit gimmicky. have just found out it has different holidays to rest of schools in county and breaks up on 1 aug with 2 weeks off during oct half term. I have a 9 year age gap betw oldest and youngest and for financial reasons we often go camping so prefer july than aug because of wasps.

what would be the consequences if i take dc out of school for a week every year until the oldest is at high school? is it just a fine?

Just to add another point. My ds is in year 7. Next week he starts his year 8 timetable, meaning that the last week of term isn't a putting your feet up and watching DVDs like in some primaries, but getting all his projects for the summer holidays. Missing this week would really put him at a disadvantage.

thanks magichamster. i will need to suck it and see and it's becoming more acceptable to think about holidays in august the more it's becoming apparent that the nicer other school is unlikely. we may chuck a sicky one year but i'd imagine once i accept the positives about this school we'll probably just buy into all its rules and toe the line especially if it looks like dc will miss out

You're right mane I got that completely wrong! Stephen Managan is nowhere that I can see!

Will your dh be keeping bees in July or August???

thats alright. I was supposed to be namechanger for a post ages ago in which I didn't want to be identified - cant even remember what it was nor why I thought anyone would bother attempting to out me.

i suspect it may be full time. he is preparing for the changes that will come about when fossil fuels run out. we also moved to the top of a hill for same reason. knowing our luck it will not happen in our lifetime Sad or is that Smile?

I'd rather take them on term time for a cheaper cruise

Allegedly, one of the parents in DS2's class was told by one of the teachers to pretend her DC had chicken pox for a week she had booked a holiday for which is a bit Shock

Unfortunately, as chicken pox was working it's way around the class, her DC got it 2 weeks before the week in question Wink
