Just saw it in another thread.

OP posts:
APlaceInTheSummer · 16/06/2014 14:19

I've just realised even if I go back as far as great-grandparents, none of their countries are in the world cup. Now I understand why I'm rubbish at football and where ds' lack of natural aptitude comes from!

LastMinuteLil · 16/06/2014 14:20

Oh, oh yes it has Grin Sorry everyone, I wasn't sure I'd done it properly. Blush

Nomama · 16/06/2014 14:28

That's lovely for you Anna.

But the rest of us get stuck with loads of noise - and now the bleeding vuvusela seems to be a permanent fixture - endless repeats. Nowhere to go out to, big screen everywhere spoiling the ambiance.

And conversation grinds to a halt... 'Ooh did you see the footy' ' No!' ' Oh!' silence.....

Fnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! How much longer???

steff13 · 16/06/2014 14:30

I'm not 100% certain that the US has a team, but since I'm an American, I chose the American flag.

PrincessBabyCat · 16/06/2014 14:34

Yep, we have a team. :)

We're not doing too bad, but FIFA's not really a deal over here outside the latino communities.

HayDayQueen · 16/06/2014 14:34

Ah, stop being a misery Nomama.

I don't follow the football (soccer!!!!!) at all but given that both DH and DS1 are avidly into it I've succumbed and am actually enjoying it!

Nomama · 16/06/2014 15:05

HayDay - having grown up with football mad everbodies, guessed the next number in the results ticker thingy, lived, breathed and eaten feckin football for the entirety of my childhood, I enjoy the 4 yearly reminder that I no longer have to.

I shall grump and moan about it every single day, even after the Ingerland team drop out (definitely a first round disaster on the cards - hurrah). Why? Cos I can Smile It's no more daft than watching and screaming and shrieking at it!

Chippednailvarnish · 16/06/2014 15:07

And there was me thinking it was a sign of the plague!

HayDayQueen · 16/06/2014 15:15

Well in that case , enjoy your moan!!!!

MoominAndMiniMoom · 16/06/2014 15:32

I'm originally from England but daren't support them, I have a Welsh OH, a half-Welsh DD and very very Welsh ILs so my life wouldn't be worth living (plus I tend to support Wales over England wherever applicable). Also a Spain fan but you can't say that these days without being called a glory hunter (I just love the football they play, been to see a fair few members of their team for Real Madrid :) ), so I've gone for the origin of my name, location of my best ever holiday and where makes the best food Grin

Lulu1083 · 16/06/2014 15:33

Testing

MoominAndMiniMoom · 16/06/2014 15:33

(although in the actual World Cup, I'd like Spain and England to do well. Not going well at the moment :( )

Lulu1083 · 16/06/2014 15:33
Grin
VitoCorleone · 16/06/2014 15:34

Whenever i click on 'my mumsnet' nothing happens, I'm assuming there should be a drop down menu? Well its not working for me

NeitherTheChimeNorThePlace · 16/06/2014 16:10

Well my team (Scotland) aren't in it so I'm going for Brazil.

NeitherTheChimeNorThePlace · 16/06/2014 16:11

Vito, it's in My Profile. There is a link straight to the page on the Site Stuff thread, maybe try that.

iK8 · 16/06/2014 16:14

I don't particularly care for the football but I like my flag :)

AnnaLegovah · 16/06/2014 20:51

There hasnt been any vuvuzelas at any of the games Ive watched nomama, are you sure you're not watching repeats of the 2010 world cup? Wink Quite grumping and chill out with some Wine, you sound like you need to loosen up!

NotAnotherPackedLunchBox · 16/06/2014 20:56

I wonder if they would give us a flag for those not following the world cup.
Perhaps a skull and cross bones or the Liberian flag.

ComposHat · 16/06/2014 21:22

I have gone for Belgium as I live in Scotland and visibly supporting England is like writing your own suicide own suicide note.

Raskova · 16/06/2014 21:39

I can't see it on the mobile app
