Is there anything I can do or is it just tough?

Same thing happened to my mum last week. She complained to the company and they have offered to refund the difference so it is worth giving it a go. Nothing ventured and all that.

It's just tough luck. Seems wrong, but business is business. You were willing to pay what they wanted for the dresses at the time.

So annoying - I've experienced the same thing.

You could ask and see what happens.

Gap used to refund if it was reduced within 30 days - not sure if they still do this.

This happened to me with Boden once. I rang up and said I notice they still had my size and colour available at the new reduced price and they refunded the difference no problem to save me reordering and sending one item back. I hadn't worn it or anything, and still had all the packaging so I was prepared to send it back once I'd ordered the new one anyway.

I don't really see why it's dishonest as long as the tags are not marked down. Seems like common sense. It's not like OP shoplifted the items and is trying to get a refund on them. If they don't have the items in stock then obviously she can't do it but if they are and it is still within the refund time there I really don't see the problem. I bought a few things in M&S the other week and then the next day everything was reduced by 20% so I bought it all again and took the originals back.
I was completely honest about why I was returning the clothes and the lady at the till said happened all the time and was fine.

I agree with house, shops put a massive mark up on clothes so I would try to buy them in the sale and return the originals, do you need the tags attached to return them OP?
