...will settle the argument about washing chicken.

Not, I suspect, on Mumsnet.

Unless blood on chicken I've never washed the chicken as was told that over 20 years ago in home economics class. Kind stock with me as to storing uncooked meat at bottom of fridge.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 16/06/2014 05:46

What is the advice?

DiddyFace · 16/06/2014 05:51

Why would anyone wash chicken?

I don't wash any food unless I'm going to eat it raw, or it has visible dirt on it (mushrooms e.g.)

paxtecum · 16/06/2014 05:55

FSA also advises raw meat to be packed in a seperate carrier bag to other foods to avoid contamination and food poisoning.
Ocado refuse, point blank to do this.
They say they have every confidence in the way the packages are sealed, but if the meat does leak and spoil other food they will refund. Confused

Their arrogance is mind boggling.

Oh, in that case I am confused as I always thought the general opinion on here was that you don't wash chicken anyway?

AgentProvocateur · 16/06/2014 06:45

I've never heard of anyone washing chickens apart from on here. And I always think of them as the same type of people who won't let a workman use their toilet in case they do a poo and contaminate it! Grin
