to not see the need to shout at the tv just because footballs on

I get that lots of people are really into football but is the shouting at the tv whilst watching it really necessary?

I'm not in to football, nor is DH but it's hot so everyone's windows are open and the sound carries.

'Tis a reflex. You can't help it! :)

squoosh · 15/06/2014 00:58

Oh don't be such a misery. Alternatively, close the windows!

Fevertree · 15/06/2014 01:03

Yes, it is really necessary!

hazeyjane · 15/06/2014 01:04

Agree it is a reflex.

Dh leaps up, roars/groans, then realises and says sorry!

I am a kicker, quiet but can't keep my foot still.

RhondaJean · 15/06/2014 01:05

YAbu utterly utterly so.

Ludoole · 15/06/2014 01:06

Im not a football fan but even i can't help but it.

Adikia · 15/06/2014 01:07

I've closed the windows squoosh and i'm not thinking of whinging at them or anything, I just don't get it.

OP posts:
Adikia · 15/06/2014 01:08

but they can't hear you through the tv!

OP posts:
Adikia · 15/06/2014 01:09

that made no sense did it? i meant i could see shouting if you're at a match but the players can't hear you through the tv!

OP posts:
Iseecows · 15/06/2014 01:10

I can't help it... Only the cows and sheep I'm annoying though! No neighbours.

squoosh · 15/06/2014 01:11

Of course they can, Wayne Rooney gets so grumpy because he can hear thousands of people on the other side of the world swearing at him!

DontSweatTheSmallStuff · 15/06/2014 01:12

lol hazey i am a kicker too. My foot gets so twitchy.

Dh OTOH is a shouter especially when the results go his way thanks to the 'office' world cup competition, which doesn't go down too well with me when his great roars of "YYYEEEESS" (over a match that has FA to do with England) risks waking the baby

LastMinuteLil · 15/06/2014 01:13

I agree it's a bit daft. But I also agree that you can't help it.

I do it during Question Time, too. Blush

Adikia · 15/06/2014 01:14

Grin ah in which case it all makes sense, I didn't know about their magic ears.

OP posts:
Jinsei · 15/06/2014 01:14

We've been shouting. It's half the fun! Our next-door neighbours are Italian, they were shouting too! Grin

OldLadyKnowsSomething · 15/06/2014 01:14

Dh not only shouts at the tv, he joins in the game (esp if it's Scotland playing rugby). It used to disturb dgs, but he's used to it now, and dh works hard not to swear if dgs is around. Sofa's a bit knackered though. Grin

It's called sympathetic magic.

(And we have no immediate neighbours, so no-one is being upset.)

Jinsei · 15/06/2014 01:16

And yy to doing it in question time too. I grew up thinking it as normal to argue with the telly!

SilverShins · 15/06/2014 01:16

Yabu!

squoosh · 15/06/2014 01:16

Oh yes, QT makes me roar!

Adikia · 15/06/2014 01:20

yeah, alright, i argue with question time too, I may be being a bit of a hypocrite, although I use real words not incomprehensible roaring Wink

OP posts:
squoosh · 15/06/2014 01:22

I'm incapable of using actual words when Iain Duncan Smith is on my screen. I just grunt and bellow.

Tis very attractive.

LastMinuteLil · 15/06/2014 01:23

Jinsei I secretly think people who don't shout at the telly are the odd ones. Wink

LastMinuteLil · 15/06/2014 01:25

squoosh Grin IDS has that effect on most people, doesn't he?

Jinsei · 15/06/2014 01:28
