I don't even like football but I enjoy the world cup. I really like watching the other countries play but I am sat here with a knot in my stomach and I don't even care!! There seems to be a pessimism surrounding the team this year

Have given up watching football and tennis for this reason.
The joy got outweighed by the downsides. Once that happened, I stopped. I didnt even know that England were playing today Blush

CheeryName · 14/06/2014 23:43

Wellbeck is v good tonight isn't he?

Nocomet · 14/06/2014 23:53

DD1 is so excited she's gone to bed.
DD2 has her quilt on the sofa.
I'm MNing, but are likely to doze off soon.

DH doing geeky things in another room. He doesn't do sport.

Nocomet · 14/06/2014 23:55

Now tennis is stressful, so are some Olympic events.

I get much more involved with individual stuff than term games.

DD2 does gymnastics and she gets wound up watching that.

ppplease · 15/06/2014 00:02

Trouble is with me, I quit tennis watching before Murray reached his peak. And actually one!
like I gave up with Eurovision and the very year I did, someone[cant remember her name, Katrina and the waves? [someone from way back when] actually went and won the thing. I have gone back to watching that, and we are back to nada

Perhaps this is the year for England!

ppplease · 15/06/2014 00:02

won obviously not one

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 15/06/2014 00:05

I was enjoying the TOTP eighties special on the other side and dh bloody turned it over. [hmmm] Could not give a shit about the football.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 15/06/2014 00:05

Ha Hmm

CheeryName · 15/06/2014 00:08

Noooooooo

squoosh · 15/06/2014 00:12

I'm not really a sports fan but watched the 6 Nations and it nearly ended me. It's so stressful watching your team win by a hare's breath.

I really don't know how people can cope with it week in, week out. There must be a surge in heart attacks during world cup games.

LEMmingaround · 15/06/2014 00:15

This is doing my head in! How many chances do we need???

OP posts:
custardismyhamster · 15/06/2014 00:35

My DPis welsh and is delighting in cheering for Italy. I've had a shitty day and quite frankly it's really pissing me off, the fact he is just being awkward to piss me off.

Realises I don't even really care. Googles where I can get a grip from

TwinkleTwinkleStarlight · 15/06/2014 00:47

How did the physio get hurt???

Getting off the bench to run onto the pitch during the goal celebrations I think

AgentZigzag · 15/06/2014 00:50

Physio's dislocated his ankle

This is the bit I hate the most, 2-1 down and no time left.

Not helped by the fact that I can't remember which goal we're playing towards Grin

squoosh · 15/06/2014 00:50

Is it wrong to laugh at the physio's injury?

TwinkleTwinkleStarlight · 15/06/2014 00:50

My DP has to be up early tomorrow so was only going to watch the first half. Decided to watch more and now with 5 mins to go he says shall we go up.

Errr no way only 5 mins left!

AgentZigzag · 15/06/2014 00:55

Grin love your DPs guilt kicking in twinkle, or can he just not watch?

Gah, we've been slain.

Ne'mind eh? Grin

LEMmingaround · 15/06/2014 01:00

Well at least when we go out -uraguay next so bye bye, I can relax and enjoy the rest of the competition

TwinkleTwinkleStarlight · 15/06/2014 01:07

agent bit of both I think Grin

Well at least when we go out -uraguay next so bye bye, I can relax and enjoy the rest of the competition

I just said that but just been 'corrected' that it isn't that simple after Uraguay have just lost.

LEMmingaround · 15/06/2014 01:12

I think we need to win that because uraguay lost?

OP posts:
LEMmingaround · 15/06/2014 01:13

Uraguay played dirty earlier and lost one of their players with a red card

OP posts:
fifi669 · 15/06/2014 01:29

We are supposed to be the most pessimistic fans in the competition with only 4% thinking we'll win

and those 4% are deluded
