To go for dinner on my own at 40+5 pregnant?

I'm fed up, grumpy and just want to get out of the house. Not feeling like baby is imminent in the slightest. Just want to go alone and leave DP and DS1 here at home. Thinking of going Westfield Stratford - about 20 mins by car.

Am I mad and irresponsible? Should I shore myself up at home on the off chance that I might go into Labour? Or take my notes and hospital bag and enjoy myself?

So as to not drip feed Westfield is closer to homerton hospital than my house but obviously I wouldn't be able to drive but could find a cab I guess if I had to.

OP I'm obviously not qualified to answer your question but I loved the typo - the capital L on "go into Labour".

Glad you enjoyed the meal which is making me salivate even without the hormones you've got going (at least I hope so!)

Good luck and Flowers

I have a friend who lives near Westfield Statford. I might have to visit her just to pop in to the Yogurt place. Grin

Only in so far you should go somewhere far nicer Smile

Quite frankly you should do what you please as long as you have a good contingency plan.

Go!!!! Forget you notes your only going twenty mins away (and yes I have very fast labours) my attitude is wherever you go there is always hospitals, ambulances ect around!

I honestly don't understand for the life of me why people out there life on hold even there due to have a baby!

At 39+6 I had a backache which wasn't surprising after I'd dragged myself doggedly down to the MW on my crutches earlier in the day. I didn't feel inclined to cook, so we went to Morrisons Cafe. 6 hours later I was hugging my baby.

First time around at 39+3, I was at the panto with the brownies when I realised that the Braxton Hicks were being rather regular. Shame he didn't turn up for another 40 hours.

Are you seriously asking if it is unreasonable to be 20 minutes from home when pregnant. Wow!

Andrewofgg · 12/06/2014 06:49

OP When LO arrives please come back and tell the sentimental old slushpots of both genders. And give him or her a kiss from cyber-uncle Andrew!

evertonmint · 12/06/2014 07:07

Did you spend the night back at home or in the hospital? Grin

Okay I went and it was a lovely evening on my own. Delicious food then frozen yoghurt then a tropical ice cooler drink on my way home - I am definitely going to regret all those calories after this baby is born.

Luckily, or sadly I did not go into labour (or even the Labour party Grin ) as a result of tempting fate. This evening I shall have to consider travelling further afield with no notes - maybe I should take my 3 year old to sit on the m25 in rush hour with me - that should definitely bring on labour, right?!

I bet this baby is induced at 42 weeks!

P.s. it's a boy.

Keep the baby in till Monday, not fair that the babies dad will get Father's Day before you get a Mother's Day.

Hope the lo arrives soon. Jealous of newborn cuddles. Thanks
