A group of people have driven caravans, vans and cars into a public park.

They have refused to leave.

They have caused damage by driving over the grass, they are driving around the park carelessly thereby causing a danger to other park users, they have lit fires, they have been seen fly tipping van loads of building waste and other rubbish. Local people having building work done have reported men coming to their door and asking if they would like their building rubbish taken for a good price.

The same night they arrived a building site about 100m away, where an historical structure is being restored was robbed.

What would your opinion of people who behave like this be?

It makes it very hard not to judge and make assumptions about people who choose a similar lifestyle.

Some travellers are good, some are bad. There are quite a few settled groups of Travellers around here and msot of them are fine - the sites are clean and tidy, the ponies are well-cared for, the kids ditto, the kids go to school most of the time, etc. Then, there are the other groups, who are basically horrible anti-social lowlife, and often cause quite a lot of friction with the local travellers.

If i was one of the settled Travellers, i would absolutely hate it when the other lot come around because they drag everyone down. To be quite honest, i don't really see what the 'bad' ones get out of living like that. Its fun to get a bit rowdy and stick two fingers up at the world from time to time, but it must be exhausting living like that.
