..to take a 4 bedroom house?

Next month I qualify for excellence customer status, and because I have been on the housing register since 2005, I will basically have 1st choice of houses. I have 3 dds.

I realise atm I will only need a 3 bedroom house, but my nan is getting on a bit (82) and might need more support soon and I was thinking if I was to get a 4 bed, theres a dining room I can make into a bedroom for her so she will not need to go into a home (she would really hate that) But then I'm thinking that I should leave the 4 beds for someone who has more kids, who need the extra bedrooms. (theres no 3 beds round here with dining rooms big enough to convert into a bedroom) I realise I'd have to pay the "bedroom tax" btw.
I haven't decided either way yet, but I'd love to be able to support my nan if I can.

Going out for a bit so might not reply for a while or at all if I'm flamed Wink

(LA houses are not actually free, you know that right?)

Yes of course I know that. But anybody who gets full housing benefit (whether for a private rental or HA) isn't paying any rent themselves and I don't think they should expect to have more than what they need.
A 3 bed house would mean adults in one room, 1 girl in own room and 2 girls sharing, that can hardly be considered overcrowded.
I've got nothing against people living in any sized house that they desire to live in as long as they can pay for it in full by themselves.

Howay man, when you're claiming you're a lesser person and should be happy in one room on 3 tier bunk beds.. gerra grip Hmm

This might russle a few feathers but we are actually already in a 3 bedroom. We judt want to move for the reasons stated.

Or you could live next door to a large family like mine that is hard working and not very loud at all tbh. The family next door with 3 adult kids and 2 teens make much more noise than my young kids. After 6pm my house is completely silent!

Have you tried house exchange?

WillWorkForMoney · 12/06/2014 16:57

I dont think anyone would be willing to exchange from a nice area to here, plus I dont think we could move in 1 day. We have a lot of stuff, including a tropical fish tank and all dps work tools/sheds. We will be doing the moving ourselves as not much money (need to buy new carpets etc in HA houses) so I think about 3 days will be needed.
