to be fuming that I've just had to remove dog shit from my glass recycling bin.?

It was bagged and tucked into the top of my bin. The bin men would have refused to empty my bin for having something other than recyclable glass for a start, never mind having to remove it myself bleeeurgh.

Cheeky fucker, TAKE IT HOME AND PUT IT IN YOUR OWN FUCKING BIN!!!!!

Eww... disgusting! (The owner, not the dog).

trixymalixy · 05/06/2014 19:58

Worst thing was I wasn't sure what it was, so examined it before I realised what it was.

Thought my Dad had maybe put some glass in a bag not understanding the rules.

At least it was bagged and (sort of) binned. I presume you didn't get any one your hands? Just touched the bag it was in. I'd have been crosser if it had been left on the floor especially if it was right outside my house.

I think councils need to make it clearer that you can put dog waste into any council bin not just specified dog bins. If people realised that, then there are plenty of rubbish bins around and people would hopefully take the time to use those rather than other peoples'.

I often put poo bags in wheelie bins when I'm out with my dog. Saves carrying it round for hours when there's no public bins around. And presumably preferable to just leaving his shit in the street like 95% of the dog owning public...

Perhaps whoever it was didn't realise it was the recycling bin rather than the general waste bin. At least it was bagged and not in your garden/ drive way.... Not the end of the world really is it?

Seriously. Should I throw it on the floor instead? Don't all bins get emptied by the council anyway? Doesn't exactly take up a tonne of space so what's the problem? What do you keep in your wheelie bin that couldn't possibly be contaminated by a bagged turd?

well done, just doing your bit for the selfish image of dog owners.

It was fairly fucking obvious that it is a glass recycling bin as it had nothing else in it apart from glass.

Take your dog shit home or don't have a dog, it's that simple.

RPopz · 05/06/2014 21:44

"Put up with the smell" ? Where do exactly do you keep your wheelie bin?? Do you eat your lunch out of it? I think you need to get a grip tbh. Bins are dirty, end of. I wouldn't let myself into someone's garden/ driveway to get to a bin, I wouldn't shove dog shit into an already overflowing bin or smear it round the outside... I open the lid, drop it in, job done. If the contents of the bin is so important to you.... don't leave it out on the street Wink

GreeboOgg · 05/06/2014 21:45

RPopz Honestly just carry it until you find a public bin or get home (or if you do a circular route, I sometimes hide mine in a bush and pick it up on the way back if it's a really long walk- not ideal but means you've got both hands free for the dog etc.,). As CorusKate has pointed out, most places are on fortnightly collections now and the bags will split if something heavy is put on top. I don't even like putting them in my own wheelie bin unless is due emptying, for just that reason.

Lauren83 · 05/06/2014 21:45

I wouldn't mind you putting a bagged poo in my bin RRopz fwiw

RPopz · 05/06/2014 21:45

"Selfish dog owners" ... some chips on some shoulders in here eh? Wink

RPopz · 05/06/2014 21:47

Perhaps I should get a bucket and strap it to his arse to catch rogue turds on the way round?

CrohnicallyHungry · 05/06/2014 21:48

I would think it's ok to put poo in a bin that's clearly due to be collected. Not one that has already been collected as then it hangs around and the bag will get squished against the bottom of the bin and not get emptied out for ages. And if a bin isn't ready for collection/just been collected it shouldn't be on the pavement. Going onto someone's property to put anything in their bin isn't on.

OnlyWantsOne · 05/06/2014 21:48

Rpopz feel free to chuck your pooch shit in my bin too.

Blimey people are precious about bins.

comingintomyown · 05/06/2014 21:48

Last time on a thread like this most people thought the OP was anal but personally I think it's utterly revolting dropping your dogs shit in someone else's wheelie bin

MrsMot · 05/06/2014 21:49

Yes but if you put it in the right bin.

Because of recycling etc, which does work round here, we have three different bins. If you stick your turd bag in the wrong one, I really don't want to fish your dog's crap out. The binmen check what's in them before they empty them, wrong 'stuff' + no collection.

Simple solution, take the shit home.

RPopz · 05/06/2014 21:49
OnlyWantsOne · 05/06/2014 21:49

Instead of the bucket, just go for a nappy.

trixymalixy · 05/06/2014 21:49

Well given that I just picked a still warm dog poo out of my bin, I'm not really too keen on dog owners at the moment, not surprisingly. And you're just reinforcing that.

OP posts:
trixymalixy · 05/06/2014 21:50

And my bin wasn't on the road, the cheeky fucker leant over my wall to do it.

OP posts:
qwertybirdie · 05/06/2014 21:50

No yanbu. I was furious last week, someone came in my garden and put a dog shit bag in a wheelie bin that we keep our recycling bags in. We have to pull the bags out and put them at the roadside, the council don't empty the bins with the Lorry.
I have a dog, and would never do this to someone else. RPopz, it is thoughtless and disgusting to put your dog shit in someone else's bin.

RPopz · 05/06/2014 21:50

Well judging by this thread I could make similar unfavourable generalisations about the non dog owning public couldn't I....

JamJimJam · 05/06/2014 21:52

How cheeky, putting your dog shit in someone else's bin!

Carry it with you until you find a dog waste bin, a general highway bin or take it home to your own bin.
