So my dd (5) keeps asking for a trampoline, I saved some cash but now im not to sure I know loads of people that have them and their kids have never hurt themselves but about 5 friends say there dc have hurt themselves. Dd has no fear an falls over fresh air. What do you think trampoline or no trampoline ?

Tell him my ds2 broke his wrist playing football, toomanypasswords - and ask if he's planning to stop your dc playing football - or skiing, playing rugby, riding a bike, walking in ice ...

Maybe it's a sign? :o

DD has had one for 2 years now and she will be 3 in less than 2 weeks. MIL thought an 8ft trampoline would be a great present for her first birthday Confused it didn't get used for the first year but now she adores it and goes on it almost every day if it's sunny. I think they are generally sold with a safety net nowadays. There is no way to fall out with a net unless it's not zipped up. The nets are around 6ft tall (at a guess) so it would be very difficult to jump over it!

Try living beside a family that must have a trampoline so big that can it be seen from the Space Station.

I hate it with a vengeance (sorry). The 3 kids are on it constantly and all I can hear, when I'm trying to sit in the back garden, are the squeals, the crying when one of them falls off and the springs (Jesus OIL the bloody thing)...it drives me NUTS.

It's even worse when the Dad gets in from work and has a go...Confused

During the summer it never lets up until they go on holiday then silence for a week or two.

Rant over Smile

These days, car journeys are fairly essential. As is walking down the street and crossing roads. Trampolines...not compulsory

AnyFucker - I agree, trampolines are not compulsory! Neither are skateboards, bicycles, skis, snowboards, rollerblades, surfboards, scooters, horses, gliders, mountain-climbing, hill-walking, bungee-jumping, motorbikes, planes, trains and automobiles ...... the list goes on and on. They're all great fun though!

Cotton wool - aahh, now there's a thing. If only there was enough to wrap up everyone to stop them living life and just let them get fat and unfit. Bones wouldn't get broken, but they would become very soft and weak. Skin wouldn't get grazed, but it would grow pale and pallid. Everyone would die of boredom and/or heart disease. Sad

My two love their trampoline and even though my dd broke her leg on it when she was just under 2 and a half, I don't regret buying it.

She's 4 now, it didn't put her (or me) off. She was on it on her own, chatting to me, not bouncing. She crossed her leg behind her to sit down and snapped it. I'm not even sure if being on the trampoline was relevant.

They have had so much fun on it I couldn't regret it.
