To cancel the milkman

New local business, thought I'd support them

Was away last week. Left a note with the order form, right where they leave the milk.
Came back to 4 cartons of milk on the doorstep, rancid, and making house look obviously empty.

I then left a note saying no milk today please, and explained about leaving the original note.
They left their bill.

Milk is twice the price of ocado anyway

If they'd apologised, I'd have given them another chance.

I cancelled ours when the grandson started helping him. We used to have alternate days of skimmed and full fat. He used to leave semi skimmed every day instead. And leave the fecking gate open.

I cancelled mine when I could never get hold of them to change orders or to cancel it when we were on holiday. Finally managed to cancel it when one day they came to collect their money and actually found a person to speak to.

Patents were invited to visit local dairy by milkman. On seeing the milk sitting out in full sun they cancelled their order from then on. The only thing they miss was the dairy diary.

cancel it! it cost's a fortune.

Bakersbum · 04/06/2014 12:13

I ended up cancelling mine too, I only signed up to support local business but it was far dearer than our local supermarket and I must admit, I hated him coming round every Friday for the money, he always came in the middle of feeding DS, with a cigarette which made the hallway smell and wanted to chat for ages.

It doesn't sound like you're getting a very good service at all.

We saw a milkman delivering on the bottom road, about 1 1/2 miles away. DH asked if we could have milk, yoghurt etc deliveries, & our local, friendly milknan said, "No, you're too rural."

11years later, I'm disabled & Tesco, (yes, Tesco), deliver up here, bring the stuff into the kitchen & unload the baskets. At xmas the driver even put my turkey in the back larder. Lovely!

I've had milk delivered for years. I text the milkman any changes we need or holiday dates. Never had a problem. My youngest DD loves cravendale, so we still have to buy milk from the supermarket.

Fgs, I left a note on Wed, cancelling the account. With a chq.
They've ignored the chq, but at least I didn't get any milk
And this morning I get more milk!
Why don't they read the notes properly?

I started to use a local milkman on the basis of supporting a new business but gave up after a year. The situation was too inflexible (the milk arrived even if we didn't always need it) and they weren't always on time. I cancelled with some sadness - but at least I managed it, unlike you it seems.

WooWooOwl · 06/06/2014 09:36

The service is clearly crap, so cancel. I'm all for supporting local business, but it has to be a business that's worth supporting.

sunbathe · 06/06/2014 09:39

I'm with Milk and More. Do they deliver to your area?

Online ordering, up to 9 pm for the next day.

It's one of the few places you can get unhomogenised milk.

yellowdinosauragain · 06/06/2014 09:44

If you can't call them I'd stick a massive note on the door so they couldn't miss it saying 'please cancel milk deliveries. Any further deliveries will not be paid for' (or something similar)
