To not want to get dressed

I am due in hospital on Friday and went for my pre op appointment yesterday. I have purchased two new night dresses and a new dressing gown for my stay and have packed my little bag with everything I thought I would need. But the physio mentioned skirts or shorts yesterday. What are you talking about I asked? "Oh we expect you to get dressed every day. Have you not heard of pyjama induced apathy"?

I am only in for three days, and wanted to lie in bed and read my book and browse the newspaper and eat grapes. Not have to get up and get dressed.

In shorts.

I imagine if you're used to jodphur induced apathy, you will cope with a bit of pj apathy. Nay (scuse the pun) you will RELISH the pj variety. So I guess it's whether your knee needs the activity in order to heal etc, or whether they are just safeguarding against people getting down. In some ways it is right to encourage people to keep going and get on (because some people really will suffer) but IME if you are horsey, you do that ALL THE TIME anyway! You know what it takes to get going again, and will do in spades.

I meant to add it reminds me of when I had ds1 - yes, the need to get out eventually IS really important, but we had also recently had a foal at the time, and I was out there within the week, in danger of over-doing it! I had a neighbour (who had no idea of what all the animals we had really demanded tbf) practically frog-march me out on a walk (to "get me out") when I was in danger of hemorrhaging! I was stupidly too polite to say no! (Thankfully to no major avail.)

If you have awareness of your body, you will know what you will/won't need to do, but it won't hurt to prep for both I guess.

(Sorry, bit serious and boring there.)

On my many visits to A&E with broken or dislocated body parts I have often been told that rugby players and horse riders are the toughest!

I would agree with that!

Hopefully there'll be someone on the ward with a bit of common sense.

Gosh that is young. I am 55 and they keep telling me I am young for the op.

I don't possess a Onesie!!!
