To think people should check what they share on Facebook before they post it

I'm getting very frustrated with people who share those hoax warnings on Facebook without checking the facts. I can't delete the people who share as they are family but grrr. Two seconds checking stops you looking like a moron!

Examples of recent shares:
www.snopes.com/photos/medical/12weekfetus.asp
www.snopes.com/photos/medical/breastrash.asp
www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/aspartame.asp

I miss the broken heart thing on FB I had many weekly serial offenders Grin

FelixFelix · 02/06/2014 20:45

Born I've just seen the one direction bag thing too. Surely hand it in to the stadium or police? Idiots!

CaractacusPotts · 02/06/2014 20:48

This boils my piss!!

Along with missing people / pets who have been found and duck face selfies!

SarahAndFuck · 02/06/2014 20:54

Is the breast one the one with the parasites and the advice to wash new bras?

I knew it was a fake as soon as I worked out what I was supposed to be looking at but it made me feel sick for days anyway.

intheenddotcom · 02/06/2014 21:06

That's the one.

I've had two 'friends' share one of Britain First's delightful pages - one a distant cousin who I instantly defriended and one a colleague who shares a page with her dh Hmm. Haven't decided what to do about that one yet.

QueenOfThorns · 02/06/2014 21:15

A colleague emailed me the bra one a few years ago. Luckily, I know about Snopes!

Once you know that it's not real and can look at it a detached way, it's not that likely, is it? After all, if that was going on, it would look a bit more...sore/red/inflamed, wouldn't it?

(Carefully avoiding describing anything much in order to protect the squeamish who haven't clicked on it Grin)

HelenHen · 02/06/2014 21:17

Never mind all the pics of Sick kids with the caption 'how many likes deserve...' or 'can he have 5 million likes' or 'like if she's beautiful, ignore if not'

Do not feed these pages, they're despicable and have probably stolen the pics!

BertieBotts · 02/06/2014 21:19

People don't seem to know snopes exists.

I have taken to finding the snopes page and posting it as the first comment. After a while I'm hoping they get the message to check first!

My almost 12yo brother has just got a FB account and is always posting things like this Hmm

ilovepowerhoop · 02/06/2014 21:25

www.hoax-slayer.com/ - another myth debunking site that I regularly link to when stupid people on my newsfeed link to complete crap (always the same people I have to say)

Weathergames · 02/06/2014 21:36

I have hoax slayer links posted on my news feed.

Also hate the "missing" ones as they could possibly be posted by perpetrators of domestic abuse :S

CrohnicallyHungry · 02/06/2014 21:36

The breast picture was posted on my news feed recently- though if you bothered to read the message, it was actually someone debunking the myth and explaining that the pic is photoshopped. It was obvious from the comments that very few people had bothered to read it and were now living in fear of the same thing happening to them.
