To think Sarah and Jareth belong together

You know, when Sarah is a little bit older that is. I wish they made a movie sequel where Sarah goes back in several years time and becomes Jareth's other half.

True fans will know what I'm talking about, right? Grin

I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.

This line used to make me swoon still does Grin

She cannot possibly go back and claim him. Because she would have to fight me to get to him.

Even now, that man is as fit as fuck and I suspect could rock those gloriously tight breeches just as well today as he did back then.

LettertoHerms · 02/06/2014 06:19

YADNBU.

Every time I watch it, when he says the line, I shout at the screen, SAY YES. JUST SAY YES. HE'LL BE YOUR SLAVE.

But she never listens to me...

KinkyDorito · 02/06/2014 06:31

YADDDDDDDNBU

NutellaLawson · 02/06/2014 07:03

Absolutely not. That line alone makes me think Sarah would be posting in relationships within six months.

The controlling and possessive tendencies are red flags. And he spiked her peach (not a euphemism)

She is right to stay away.

ToriaPumpkin · 02/06/2014 07:31

When I was eight months pregnant with DD I in fact did turn to my two year old and tell him I wished the goblins would come and take him away. Right now. He looked a little confused but they didn't appear. I've got the dark hair but I'm not a Sarah...

wastingyourgum · 02/06/2014 07:34

Not that I've given this matter far too much thought or anything, but I think Jareth is a construct of Sarah's mind (a teen fantasy of a mysterious otherwordly guy based on a character in a play she spends far too much time re-enacting in the park) that has somehow gained sentience, if that makes sense. I mean, all the elements of Labyrinth are right there in her bedroom at the beginning, and Jareth sings about not being able to live within her anymore...

Just saying.

But that aside, YADNBU. They totally belong together Grin

wastingyourgum · 02/06/2014 07:39

Also, I'm just going to leave this here...

It's not an official sequel, but it is highly entertaining, beautifully drawn, and it is looking increasingly likely that they will (eventually) get together. Perhaps even with NutellaLawson's issues resolved Wink

rediscovering it as an adult, I was surprised not just by the tightness of the trousers but the enormity of the bulge. Kids don't seem to have noticed.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 02/06/2014 08:37

There is a whole world of fanfiction out there in which Sarah and Jareth get together allegedly. Some of it is abysmal, but some of it is fabulous so I am told!

HecatePropylaea · 02/06/2014 08:40

I thought I was the only one who thought the end scene (I've done everything you asked...) was really romantic and was SO disappointed when she turned him down. In my fantasies, I said yes and stayed. Grin

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 02/06/2014 08:58

I 'did' Jareth last October I bloody wish.

I read something somewhere, I think it was the original screenplay, and basically Sarah's mum is an actress and has a new boyfriend (I think you see a photo of them both on the mirror in Sarahs room). Basically Jareth is the mums new boyfriend and Sarah fantasies about him.

millionsofpeaches · 02/06/2014 10:01

Love this thread :-) But I agree with whoever said Sarah is too whiney. They did have chemistry though.

Anyone else practice Sarah's speech from the end just in case the goblins take my dcs? Blush
Also still shit scared of the freaky pink head removing creatures. It's become a running joke between dh and dsis.

AllThatGlistens · 02/06/2014 10:15

My DH bought me the special deluxe super dooper dvd version for our first Christmas together, he earned massive brownie points!

Love love love it. I spent most of the late 80's convinced I'd somehow track down Sarah's ballgown one day to have as my wedding dress Blush

Need to rewatch soon..

WeeBlueWorm · 02/06/2014 10:46

I showed this DVD to my 9 year old daughter and its now one of her favourites. She wants to wear Sarah's dress when she gets married Grin

David Bowie has been my hero since 1971. He does look awfully like Julian Clary when he's being Jareth, though.
