Ebay- annoyed- can they do this?

Just won an auction fairly on ebay. The seller just emailed saying she was selling for a friend who wanted more than the item sold for and that she is going to cancel me winning the item.

I am really annoyed am I right to be? Can I complain to ebay? Surely she should have put a reserve if she wanted more. .

Yes, you can complain to Ebay.

grocklebox · 31/05/2014 12:28

No they cant. Report to ebay.
But this is aibu, there is a whole topic just for ebay.

She shouldn't do this. You won it according to the rules fair and square.

They should have set a higher starting price.

You are entitled to open a case against her if she won't complete the transaction. Do not agree to cancel!

Tryharder · 31/05/2014 12:31

You can report her and eBay will probably send her a sternly worded email.

But whether they can actually force her to pack the item and post it to you is doubtful.

I would say your answer is 'no', eBay can do nothing about it.

You are right to be annoyed but there isn't a lot you can do.
Can you leave negative feedback?
Even if you complain to ebay you still won't get the item but they might get a ban.
My DB has been banned for a few times for things like this and non payment but he just sets up new accounts.

It sucks and it's not how ebay should work.

Well ultimately she can refuse to sell to you, there is nothing that eBay can do to make her send it.

However... to get her fees back, she will have to send a cancellation request, and you have to agree to it. So I sure as hell wouldn't.

I'd also report her as a non-performing seller, and leave the appropriate (negative) feedback.

This will go on her account, and she will be stuck with the fees, which is her own fault.

Sorry didn't know about the ebay forum

Pay for it through paypal, this covers you. If you don't pay for it she can file against you as a non payer to reclaim her fees and also have any negative feedback you leave removed.

When she refunds you then you can file a non performing seller complaint. It might mean standing out of the money for a few days but I'd pay for it and watch her squirm.
