To wonder if Zoopla provides accurate information?

Apparently the information that it provides is really inconsistent.

Does anyone know anything more about this?

It seems to be a simple formula it applies based on known points e.g. previous sale prices, house type and market performance.

So the house next door to us had previously been a distress sale to avoid repossession. Identical to ours but showing as 20% cheaper.

I noticed my neighbour had a ridiculously high valuation. Then I noticed the bit for the owner to influence the valuation on Zoopla. I put in a stupid valuation for my house. Two days later it appeared on the site. Don't trust anything on it.

Zoopla is waaaay off. You're better off going to Rightmove's Sold Prices.

mameulah · 30/05/2014 23:14

Oh, Rightmove Sold Prices, I hadn't heard of that.

Thank you!

It doesn't. I 'claimed' my house on Zoopla- when we bought it it was 3 beds, 1 reception and 1 bath. We extended and we now have 4 beds, 2 receptions and 2 baths. Zoopla price the house at 370k (we're in a 'naice' part of Hampshire). 3 independent estate agents have just valued it as an average of 525k. Divorce underway so good to know wht's in the pot!
