I have an appointment with stop smoking wales adviser.

Failure is not an option, I am due an operation soon and afterwards I will not be able to walk. No way I would ever smoke in the house.

The question is would I be unreasonable to take my DC with me, it would be twice.

YANBU hope it goes well. Have you considered vaping?

ICanSeeTheSun · 29/05/2014 22:00

It didn't work

I would say it would be fine (unless they bombard everyone with grisly images of rotten lungs and doom laden statistics but I guess facts are facts so they might...) Could you check first?

Best of luck! I am an ex smoker so know how hard it can be

Actually if smoking in the house is definitely not an option and you can't get out of the house, smoking may not even come into your head! I had the flu and was basically bed bound for almost 2 weeks (apart from crawling to the toilet etc) and smoking was the last thing on my mind why the hell did I start again after?!

ICanSeeTheSun · 29/05/2014 23:49

I don't care if they do show grisly images, I hope my DC never ever smoke.

More concerned about other people who want to give up.

Lilola I would never smoke in the house, DH is asthmatic and anyone who smokes in a room with children should educate themselves on 2nd hand smoke.

However I want to concentrate on getting fit again and not hindering that by going out to smoke

Give the organiser a ring and see what they say :)

Emailed SSW.

I am not going to lie I'm a really nervous about the op and I know smoking increases the risks

see it's so easy for people to say 'well ffs why would you smoke if it makes the op riskier?!'. I seem to remember a (french) woman who had one of the first full face transplants being villified because it turned out the new face was rejected because she smoked after the op. As a former smoker I KNOW it doesn't come down to 'I shouldn't smoke so I won't smoke'. If it was that bloody easy no one would smoke! Can you ask for NRT from your GP? Have you tried that before?

ICanSeeTheSun · 30/05/2014 00:08

SSW will provide NRT. I hope I can.

You CAN. If I can, you can

Luckily I managed to sort out childcare, op is on 8th July so need to quit.
