to ask someone not to write down a password that I've given them?

Just that really. Someone asked me if I would mind giving them my password so they could use an online account. The account is linked to my bank account and various other things so I'm careful not to write it down.

I told them, they logged in and I asked them not to keep a record of it. They said OK but I've just found out that they lied.

AIBU to be passed off?

Just change your password.

Giving other people your passwork kind of defeats the purpose anyway.

Well once you gave them the password, writing it down doesn't make a difference.

It's not the person that I gave it to that I don't trust - they are really lax with leaving details lying around and I don't want mine lying around in the same way.

Good point though, a password change is definitely in order!

You can tell them you don't want them to, as you do, but that doesn't guarantee they won't do it anyway, as they did.

So where you get to decide I'd in giving them you password or not.
