Before getting your polling card, you'd need to do a comprehension test where you look at all the parties' policies and demonstrate that you understand what you are voting for. Then people wouldn't vote on the basis that a certain party leader is a good bloke and buys his round, for example.

My voting power is 0.073. The average uk voter has 3.45 x more voting power than me.I live in an ultra safe conservative constituency.Pah!

I couldn't agree more that politics should be compulsory at school. I'm pretty confident that I vote 'well', IYSWIM, but am uncomfortably aware that I probably couldn't defend my politics well in an argument.

You can educate yourself to a point, but it's hard. A thorough grounding at school would have helped me and a lot of people enormously.
