to wonder why people vote Labour, Tory or Lib Dem?

Lots of threads on here asking why people voted UKIP. I didn't vote because I think all the parties are rubbish and none of them represent what I believe in but I would like to ask people who voted Labour, Tory or Lib Dem why they voted the way they did, whether it was policies and if so what specific policies of the Lab/Tory/Lib Dem party appeal over other parties and if it wasn't for policies then why? Thank you.

I voted Green in the Euro Elections and will vote Labour in the general election.

I voted Green (for the first time) as their candidate was excellent and would have made a great MEP. I still vote Labour (sometimes with a more heavy heart than at other times) as I believe that they offer a better chance of something approaching a fairer society than the Tories.

I get the rage when people say 'ohhh the two many parties, they're the same' as if it was some sort of piercing political insight. It usually means that they're two fucking lazy to read a manifesto or keep an eye out for policy announcements.

The Labour party will go into the elections offering to repeal the bedroom tax, stop the stealth privatisation of the NHS, freeze energy bills and lower voting age to 16. Regardless of whether you think these are good things or not, these are policies that make them distinct from the Tories.

Good question. This is so difficult because the parties are such diametric opposites and the best for me would be one in between (I have always voted Lib Dem simply because it is either Lib Dem or Labour here but I don't know if I would vote that way again).

For me Labour are the party of mass immigration, huge house price costs, no social housing being built in 13 years, mass expansion of the public sector and lowering of standards, PFI contacts, selling gold at ridiculously low prices, dubious wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, throwing money at people in the hope that they will vote for you, mass expansion of the welfare state so that equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity reigns and we have people who have never bothered getting the same amount of money as people who have always worked just because they have chosen to have loads of children. I feel like Labour are fake and hypocrites.

For me the Tories are the arrogant party of the rich, bankers, big business. I associate them with making the economy even worse by getting the poor to take on lots more debt, making house prices even more ridiculous than under Labour, not building any homes and purposely squeezing supply to increase house prices, not making work pay, tinkering around the edges, allow billion pound corporations to pay no to little tax, tax avoidance on mass, mass immigration, destroying the NHS, continuing many of Labour's failed policies, using spin to sell stories, not listening to the electorate, not giving the electorate a referendum, privatizing everything, just generally being nasty cliched cunts.

For me the Lib Dems are totally ineffective, useless, liars who reneged on all their promises (tuition fees), vote against things that would help the people they claim to represent, Clegg is a multimillionaire who wants tax payers money to pay for his ideals whilst he avoids tax, total hypocrite.

So, to sum up. All the parties are rubbish. I might vote Green but I disagree with them about so many things too. Maybe I just won't vote, but that's awful isn't it.

I voted entirely based on policies because I don't have a particular allegiance one way or another. There are some really good websites where you can answer questions on the preferences you have and they show you which parties are closest.

I used this one eng.votematch.eu/ which showed that I agree with 16 out of 30 of the Conservative EU policies (14 for Lib Dems & 12 for Labour, so hardly conclusive). Key though, was that it shows which policies you agree or disagree with compared to the political parties so you can decide which policies are more important to you.

I will be using a similar tools when the GE comes around and actual policies are announced but, of course, there's no guarantee that parties will stick to their policies if they get into power (I'm looking at you Lib Dems) so you have to take it all with a pinch of salt.
