He bought me THE WRONG CHOCOLATE!

DP is very much versed in the correct my opinion of chocolate. It generally has to be Cadbury's, it has to not be messed with!

'Do not mess with my chocolate' is an oft repeated phrase.

He was sent for wine and as a bonus bought me some chocolate. what is he after, no chance, I start a new job tomorrow

All well and good but the chocolate he brought home was Nestles 'Wonka' bar with Creme Brulee in it.

I haven't tried it yet because of pigging out on yummy chesses and hovis biscuits and it may well be lovely, but I still think HIBU!

DH has returned from work with Caramel Nibbles.

Boy done good.

trikken · 25/05/2014 20:08

He took it into work to thank his team on a good job. His mum made it just for me though as I love carrot cake and he thought I wouldn't mind as 'he was going to bring the rest back' which he did after I nagged him to but would've forgotten otherwise . Its funny that dh doesn't like carrot cake. Hmm

trikken · 25/05/2014 20:09

AND there was only a tiny bit left when he did!

MammaTJ · 25/05/2014 20:15

trikken, you have really made me think about myself and how selfish I am being. My mum always said there were starving children in Africa there were people worse off than me,and now I see that she was right!

There was me, devastated a little put out because DP bought me the wrong chocolate, and there is you, having perfectly lovely cake and having it TAKEN AWAY frome you.

Did you tell his Mum what he did so she would make you some more
know what she had brought up?

He gave away carrot cake??? I just can't get my head around this

I am the only one in this house allowed to buy snacks as no one ever gets it right and I go without Hmm

trikken · 25/05/2014 20:19

Yes. Then I made him make me a cheesecake, to attempt to make up for it.

ExitPursuedByABear · 25/05/2014 20:22

I gave away two carrot cakes last night. They were fucking fabulous. Did anyone thank me?

Monopolice · 25/05/2014 20:23

DH buys Thorntons or Hotel Chocolat shite every sodding birthday/anniversary. Last time it was Prestat and even he had to admit the Violet ganache tasted like soap. I don't want salted raspberry caramel, or myrrh and ginger truffle, or toasted pistachio roulade, or crunchy strawberry coffee fillings - a kilo of Dairy Milk will suffice.

Andrewofgg · 25/05/2014 20:41

Can anyone explain why if if buy DW chocolate bars they have to be Cadbury's Fruit and Nut but if I buy her a box they must be plain?

She has never offered a rational explanation.

Just curiosity, you understand, I am happy to go along with it and she deserves the best in choccies and everything else!

Andrewofgg · 25/05/2014 20:41

If I buy, damn this keyboard . . .

ForgiveMeFather · 25/05/2014 20:54

There is no rationality when it comes to chocolate - just nod and do as she asks Grin

TereseaGreen · 25/05/2014 20:56

This may out me to family but my Dad once bought my stepmum some chocolate and handed it over it with "I know you love these, when you were pregnant with...".

My stepmum has no children, he was talking about my mum.
Cringe.

TooManyBubbas · 25/05/2014 20:57

mono whats wrong with Hotel Chocolat??!! I love their alcoholic chocs.

Dp does this. He goes out for chocolate supplies and comes back with a kitkat! Once it was a pack of penguins...he got this Hmm look. After 11 years he should know this stuff!

mousmous · 25/05/2014 20:58

yabu
cadbury's is not chocolate.
give me lindt or green&blacks.

BillnTedsMostFeministAdventure · 25/05/2014 21:01

Good luck with the job!

SarniaCherie · 25/05/2014 21:04

YAbu - Cadburys tastes rank these days. All oily.

Shewhowines · 25/05/2014 21:05

That's cruel. You will have to consume as obviously you will have to eat it all those unnecessary calories. What a waste of calories.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 25/05/2014 21:16

Okay this story may upset those of a delicate disposition.

When I was almost 9 months pregnant my mum bought me a Cadburys advent calendar. I had gestational diabetes but was being induced before Christmas so was planning to save them up and eat on the day after DS was born.

Now XP took it upon himself to take my calendar to work and give it to one of the women as she had been complaining that she didn't have one and all the shops had sold out. The look he received upon telling me this story could have killed.

I had the baby on the 16th December. That was 16 delicious puds/angels/Christmas trees I could've been shovelling into my gob on the antenatal ward.

I shall never forgive him.

Andrewofgg · 25/05/2014 21:22

ForgiveMeFather I learnt the wisdom of that long, long ago, and not jsut about chocolate.

trikken · 25/05/2014 21:23

Yep that is bad too WYDTF. What were they thinking of, really?

PrincessBabyCat · 25/05/2014 21:45

trikken Shock Shock Shock!!! He took away your carrot cake? You know you shouldn't put incriminating evidence online in case the police find the body and need to establish probable cause...

I've actually gotten lucky with DH. He knows exactly what to get me when I give him vague instructions to pick up fruit, chocolate, snacks, or coffee. Sometimes I'm surprised at all the little tidbits from little off handed remarks he's managed to hang onto and retain. Even remembers what brand and flavor of yogurts to get me. I don't know how he hangs on to such mundane things like that. :)

GiniCooper · 25/05/2014 21:45

Oh and to add insult to injury he probably only bought it because it was on special offer.
I noticed two shops today had it right next to the tills and on offer.

Lauren83 · 25/05/2014 22:13

I always wondered why my DP used to randomly buy me Kinder Eggs, waste of time as far as I'm concerned, hardly any chocolate on them! Few years later he bought me a 6 pack and I said why on earth do you keep buying me these things!! He said he thought it was my fave chocolate! It's now been swapped for a family bar of galaxy when he is in the bad books :)

What 30 year old woman wants kinder eggs!

jeanmiguelfangio · 25/05/2014 22:44

Teresea- oh my, I bet he is still paying for that
Fandango, that is just beyond- what on earth made you have a child with this man!!!
Lauren-no, no one except me wants kinder eggs (although im 28 so does that make it ok)

magimedi · 25/05/2014 23:07

Probably one of the few times I don't need to 'read the full thread'.
